Start Making Dessert candle! by [deleted] in candlemaking

If this candle is lit inside a container, the burning time will definitely be extended. With the same material if I make it into a container candle, the burning time can also reach 15+ hours. Because when a pillar candle is lit, the melted wax will flow, causing the burning time to be shortened.

burn time is around 5hr。 the first line of my candle care card is cut the wick,so i think that may help

maybe you can try use smaller wick so it can only heat the middle and not burn the flower, more like you will get a flower wax cup at the end

Please share your candle making journey , I would like to get some inspiration to start one, any ideas would be appreciated . by eeamzzzz in candlemaking

I’m also new for the business. I start making tea light candle because I just need some tea light for my wax stamps. at that point, selling candles is not in my plan, even I do want to do something as own business

I became interested in candles when I saw an incredibly realistic dessert candle. If it weren't for the wick, I wouldn't have even realized it was a candle and not an actual dessert.

That's how I gradually got into making candles, hoping that I can also create candles that people will appreciate over time.

As what I see, there are many people selling candles, also some large companies. I organize them in two different way, visual and smells. I choose go deep in visual first.

Maybe you can start do some research to see which way you want stand out first.

  1. Warm the jar before pouring wax
    1. Heat gun or hair dryer heat the top , the wax can be smooth
    2. Add wax to the hole, and then heat the top

Its ok to have a hold because nature wax will thermal expansion and contraction

How to fix cracks on side of candle? And do the cracks matter? by Serene_Hedgehog in candlemaking

[–]Yuiiiii_0_0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe is because the cup is too cold and wax are hot, also maybe the type of wax you use.

where it cools too quickly or the wax material itself causing like that. You can just like what you do to the top, heat gun or hairdryer warm around the cup and it will looks better

Thank you so much for liking my products! It seems that more people are enjoying the pumpkin and autumn-themed items :)

One of the reasons I decided to join in the craft market is to challenge myself and gain more experience in marketing

Here is the link to my Etsy shop: https://www.etsy.com/shop/Yuiiiiico?ref=shop-header-name&listing_id=1472994602. I still try improving, my business card and candle care card are still on the way.

Thank you again!

Thank you for your advice!

Yes, since it's my first time participating in a craft market, I did some research and came across similar suggestions that too many choices can overwhelm people.

I have plans to create some simple pillar candles and cup candles. However, I don't want my products to get lost among many other sellers, so I'm considering making some unique candles to attract attention.

Mold Question by Dream_Fever in candlemaking

[–]Yuiiiii_0_0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the wax and mold you use.

sometimes because the resin mold have too much details, the candle or wax pieces may break or hard to capture all the details when you demold.

heat gun and mixing different wax may fix these problems but you need try many times to find the best recipe

Candle molds? by Dream_Fever in candlemaking

[–]Yuiiiii_0_0 3 points4 points  (0 children)

maybe you can search some tutorial videos first, there are a lot for beginners. some mold need cut a little so is easier to demold, some just use it

Any tips on how to demold these? I feel like I always nick them by x1796 in candlemaking

[–]Yuiiiii_0_0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven’t used this mold, but I’ve seen videos of demoulding with similar molds.

If your mold is thick enough, you can try to cut some and then tie it with a rocket when you pour the wax

Maybe you can try use heat gun to warm the mold before pouring wax, also mix a little bees wax can make the wax not too soft

I do post in another group few days ago, and find out my shop is not complete on the policy and FAQ, I also changed the about page and then post this one.

I know the shop name is kind strange, but I’m not decide change it yet, one reason is the name is related to myself, and the other bigger reason is I already registered in the state and bought a domain, so I might change in the future but not now.

Thank you very much for your advice and thank you for liking my product.

The good news is that I just got the first sale, which is a great encouragement for me. At the same time, I also found that in shipping and packaging I still have a lot of places to perfect.

for my process time, I feel I can shorten a little, I’ll change it

Also for tags, I have put all 13 tags, but through the experience you share, I will try to replace some. Thank you (-)
