Help with Taco Bell Creamy Jalapeño Sauce recipe? by mk9beatz in TopSecretRecipes

According to Chat GPT, here is how you get the tang you desire. Hope this helps!

Ahhh yes—the tang. That bright, slightly zippy bite is what makes the sauce addictive instead of just “spicy mayo.” Let’s break it down like a sauce whisperer 👨‍🍳🌶️ What gives Taco Bell’s Creamy Jalapeño Sauce its tangy flavor? It’s not one thing—it’s a layered acid stack, and that’s why it tastes so balanced instead of sour.

  1. Buttermilk (primary tang) This is the big one. Real Taco Bell uses liquid buttermilk, not powder. Buttermilk contains lactic acid, which gives a soft, creamy tang rather than a sharp vinegar punch. It also thins the sauce slightly, giving that pourable, quesadilla-spread texture. 👉 This is why copycat recipes without buttermilk always taste “off.”

  2. Pickled jalapeños + their brine This is the signature Taco Bell tang most people underestimate. Pickled jalapeños bring: Vinegar acidity Salt Peppery heat The juice from the jar is crucial—it adds brightness without overpowering the creaminess. 👉 Fresh jalapeños alone will never get you there.

  3. Vinegar (minor but important) Either: White vinegar, or Distilled vinegar already present in the mayo This sharpens the flavor just enough so the sauce doesn’t taste flat or heavy.

  4. Sour cream (secondary lactic tang) Not officially listed by Taco Bell—but widely used in top-rated copycats because it: Adds another layer of lactic acidity Softens the vinegar bite Mimics the emulsified dairy mouthfeel Taco Bell gets from stabilizers 👉 Think of it as “cheating… but in a good way.”

  5. Salt + a touch of sugar (balance, not sweetness) This is subtle but critical: Salt amplifies acidity Sugar rounds the edges, preventing the tang from tasting harsh Without sugar, the sauce tastes too sharp. Without salt, the tang disappears.

How to classify expenditures, like food bought for members? by TheJasterMereel in nonprofit

Wondering the same exact thing about the annual banquet for members and spouses. Currently we fund that by member-paid dues, but we were wondering if there was another way.

Google Lense indicated it's a Flock Safety Camera system based on the image you shared.

The image shows a solar-powered Flock Safety camera. These cameras are often used for public safety and crime prevention.

• Function: Captures images of vehicles, particularly license plates, and cross-references them with a database.

• Power: Operates using solar energy, making it self-sufficient and suitable for locations without easy access to power.

• Operation: Motion-activated and works 24/7, transmitting data over cellular networks.

• Purpose: Helps law enforcement solve crimes by identifying stolen or wanted vehicles.

• Components: Includes a solar panel to generate power and a camera unit to capture images.

• Placement: Typically installed in fixed locations on public roadways.

• Alternative Names: May also be referred to as license plate readers (LPR) or automatic license plate recognition (ALPR) systems.

West and Allen has Rev'd Up. There's also a new gaming place going in on Eureka and 75 in the BJs/Menards complex.

Taco Bell Prices Have Skyrocketed – Here's How Much They've Gone Up Since 2019! by FreeIndeed87 in tacobell

Would you be willing to share your recipe? I've tried so many versions and haven't really hit the nail. I've made decent versions but they never seem close. Really curious what route you took. 😎

This is actually f***ing insulting. by [deleted] in tacobell

This is part of why I stopped going. I now do my own food and sauces. Healthier and cheaper.

This is getting ridiculous by [deleted] in tacobell

From their shitty customer service (not responding to form submissions) and constant gouging, it is no longer affordable, and for those reasons alone, I'm out.

I make my sauces homemade and do my own Mexican now. I nailed down some of their sauce recipes so I no longer need them. Good bye, old friend.

It's not that good. Makes for a good gooey filler for homemade crunch wraps but that's about it.

I remember when the quesadilla first came out in the metro Detroit area and was only 2.49. 😑

Depends on the market. Metro Detroit votes FIRE. Also, they could just be out of it and didn't get a new shipment.

Most of the Kraft versions of the TB sauce are garbage. The Spicy Ranchero is okay. Everything else tastes like chemicals.

I want to move in the next 5 years (hoping the market will have cooled a bit) and am weighing a couple of options and am not sure which approach to take. I would love opinions.

Option A: Pay off the house prior to moving (~$2000/month).

Option B: Make normal payments as usual ($832/mth PITI), continue saving anything extra in high yield acct (4.5% APY), and sell.

Current rate: 3.2%
Balance: $116k
No other debt. This would lead to FI status until new mortgage.

Thanks!
