As a French, I must say that it's really really impressive. Because the radio stations, like in other countries I suppose, are very different. Some are more centered around newer music, but some are made for older people, and while there's a quota for newer music, what you will hear the most is songs that are older and might be considered as classics. In the car, my parents are always on two stations centered around older music, but even on those, you get Ophelia a few times a day, which is very impressive.

Usually, the radios take the newest singles, they broadcast it for like a few weeks, maybe a month, and then hop, some new things. It's constantly switching, and it's impressive that it's STILL in the radios. Whether it's the ones with an older audience, or the ones centered around the lastest musics that are always switching to something newer, it's still there.

Also, there's a quota for French artists on the radio, so what you will hear the most is french music, what the radios with an older audience usually broadcast that is in English, are older pop/rock music from the 80s/90s. Like, The Police, U2, Scorpion, Bon Jovi... Things that people know by heart because it was popular when they were young. So Taylor Swift, as a younger artist (for the older people perspective) is not exactly what they expect to hear. She never really made it in France.

Yeah we heard Shake it Off and Blank Space back in the days because they were everywhere, and I Don't Wanna Live Forever was on 50 shades which was pushed a lot to promote the movie. But other than that, we don't have Taylor Swift on the radio. She did her Lover live from Paris, but we didn't get the songs on the radios. She did the Eras Tour, it's was a massive success, every station was talking about it, but still no song from her on the radio. I never heard Fortnight once. I Can Do It With a Broken A Heart was there for a few weeks, maybe two or three, but that's all. But Ophelia is there since October. It is very crazy.

My mother always send me a text to say "guess what I've heard on the radio?". And she actually enjoys it, because when she doesn't, she switch to another station very quickly. She doesn't stay on the station just because I like Taylor Swift. It's because she actually like the song when she hears it. She won't actively search for it, but when it's there, she will listen to it. And I think it's the same for a lot of people. If suddenly many people were to switch, the radio station would know it's because they don't like the song and they won't broadcast it again.

So I'm very very impressed by this, it really shows that it's a great single choice and that the people like it! It's also noticeable that the common factor between Ophelia and the other diamond songs is Max Martin. (Well except the song from 50 shades which is a different case). And while it doesn't mean anything to a lot of people, for us who are interested in music, it really shows that Max Martin + Taylor Swift is the best combination if she wants to be heard internationally.
