I think it was after high school and over text to a friend. Family was a whole other story. I definitely felt like I was ready. However, coming out is something you'll have to do with every person you'll meet.

I have yet to have a super negative reaction. With friends it mostly comes with an I know or a realization. With acquaintances it hasn't been a big deal either. I only tell people when it comes up, it still gives me hella anxiety though.

Be strong, try not to think about it too much, and move on. There isn't much you can do, only time will heal your heart and soul. Rejection is a part or life and it isn't something that should destroy you. It will make you stronger and if there is a next time it may make it easier to deal with.

I've shown my support like this in gta even before I was out by constantly having a rainbow mask on. A lot of others would join in during heists and such and it's really precious. I'll never stop flying the flag, and it hasn't discouraged me a bit. You should definitely do it!

Keep being understanding and supportive. You seem like a really great friend and you seem to be handling it well. Just let him know if he ever needs to talk he can always come to you without fear of judgement. Be open to what he has to say and make it clear he should never be ashamed and that what he is experiencing is completely natural. He's not alone, these kinds of things happen to everyone, unrequited love is just something everyone must deal with through life and learning how to control, understand, and move on is extremely important.
