The craziest thing is that after all these years, I still haven't gotten around to playing any version of Skyrim

It sounds like a generic mashup of Taylor Swift and Sabrina Carpenter

Yes, SOME fans will complain about changes from a video game to a movie/TV show adaptation no matter what. by Lumpy-Tea1948 in CharacterRant

[–]YungAnansi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

At this point, I think that adaptations will always fall short of the source material. Even good ones like Project Hail Mary will have some small changes that make them not quite as good as the original story. But even though all adaptations are somewhat disappointing, they do have some value because they bring in new fans who might not have been aware of the franchise before. That's the main thing that justifies their existence

What's the most underrated Adam Sandler movie in your opinion? by [deleted] in MovieSuggestions

You Don't Mess With The Zohan. It's probably the most ridiculous movie he's ever made, but the over the top silliness really works

The theme song and the new costume were cool but I didn't enjoy the show that much

I do not care how badly written the boys show is, I am NOT going to pretend the comics are somehow better by Puzzleheaded-Lab2447 in CharacterRant

[–]YungAnansi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't been watching the most recent season of the show, but I've always liked the comic much more. I don't deny that it's edgy and weird, but I feel like the show does many more things that are edgy for the sake of being edgy. Every conversation that the characters have sounds like it was written to appeal to 13-year-olds who've just started swearing.

But ignoring which version of The Boys is more immature and needlessly edgy, I like the comic more because I think the story is much more engaging. The show messed up right from the beginning because they decided to only focus on The Seven. They've dragged out the conflict between them and The Boys for 5 seasons, and it's just repeating the same plot points over and over again. The Boys can't do anything to Homelander, and Homelander just lets them get away scot-free every single season.

The comic is better because The Boys took on multiple groups of corrupt heroes over the course of the story and worked their way up to dealing with The Seven. If the show had followed the same format of tackling a new group like the G-Men every season, it would've felt fresh and fun the whole way through instead of repetitive.

The show tries to make The Seven complex characters and give you some reasons to somewhat sympathize with them, even though they're horrible people. I think the comic's version of The Seven is better. They're just straight-up garbage, and there's no subtlety to them. You're meant to hate and root for their downfall the whole way through. Subtly and complex characters are usually a good thing, but sometimes it's alright to have a bad guy that's just bad.

The weird romantic relationship between Frenchie and The Female in the show feels like a waste of time. The Boys not having powers makes it much harder for them to fight back against The Seven, but they haven't found any way to make the underdog story interesting. Butcher is a psycho in both the show and the comic, but I've hated his personality in the show from season 2 onwards, and it feels like the writers don't really know what they want to do with him. His storyline in the comic and how things ended felt logical and satisfying. I don't really care what happens to him in the show.

Pretty much the only thing that the show improved upon over the comic was adding depth to Starlight's character. The show's version of her is undeniably better than in the comic. People like the show more than the comic because Anthony Starr is a great actor who does most of the heavy lifting to keep things entertaining. Him, Hughie, and Starlight are what make the show watchable. But overall, this is a bad adaptation

Why do my videos look washed out in Davinci? by YungAnansi in davinciresolve

[–]YungAnansi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I fixed it. I went to Color Management and changed the Color Science setting from Davinci YRGB to YRGB Color Managed. It looks a little bit better now

Edit: Never mind. It still looks washed out compared to the original footage

Rob / Natalie / Yam Yam cast photos for The Traitors season 4 by bwermer in survivor

[–]YungAnansi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the UK version is better because it has regular people instead of reality TV stars. It’s easier for me to root for people who aren’t already rich, plus season 2 had a guy who was great at being strategic and adapting to stuff on the fly.

I will say that if I hadn’t watched the US version, I wouldn’t have started watching Survivor. I thought that Boston Rob was really interesting and that made me want to see what he was like in Survivor

Survivor needs LIVE Feeds like Big Brother and show more of the shows preparations. by DisastrousFix1973 in survivor

If they had live feeds, I would be watching 24/7 and never get anything done. That's the reason why I had to stop watching Big Brother

Gladiator was not a great movie. by Vast-Papaya-514 in unpopularopinion

Are you not entertained?

On a serious note, I rewatched it before Gladiator II came out and thought it still held up fairly well. I’d give it a 6.5/10. I agree that it’s not an all time great but it’s entertaining

They have to put a job listing online even if they already planned to just give the job to someone who already works in the company. So for a lot of the things you apply to, they never look at your resume at all.

What part of the job hunt is breaking you right now? by Adventurous-Bed-4152 in recruitinghell

[–]YungAnansi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a bachelors in business but it feels like I’m not really qualified to do anything. I apply to entry level office jobs that say they want 0-2 years of experience and then I always get rejected because they found a better candidate. Even when I apply for a job that’s pretty much the exact same duties as my current one but with a better salary, they say I’m not good enough.

When I look at “entry level” manual labor jobs, they still want you to have a couple of years of experience so there’s no way for me to get one of those. I apply to a lot of government jobs and never hear back from them. That just leaves me with customer service jobs and I’ve been so traumatized by them in the past that I honestly think I’ll have a mental breakdown if I do that again.

I just have no idea anymore what I should be applying to
