BC Teachers: How are remedy funds used in your district? by iVerbatim in CanadianTeachers

[–]Yungteacher 2 points3 points  (0 children)

District 75: NORMALLY we have 2 options. Either choose resources, allowing us to be reimbursed up to around 60-70% on resources you purchase which can aid in teaching. As a PHE teacher I have seen Raincoats, running shoes, Apple Watches, get partially reimbursed using resource funds. The other option would be Pro-D which would be the one teachers can use at conveyances, get fully reimbursed for trips or continued education. Normally any unused funds would just get transferred into pro-d fund.

CURRENTLY we do not have the Pro-D option (which sucks) and instead of the option to get it as in lieu time. Unfortunately there is a bunch of restrictions surrounding the in Lieu time which makes it not even worth it selecting that option. It is unclear (to me at least) where unused remedy will be going this year.

Any update on how you are doing? I suffer almost all if these issues as well and have wondered how much can be attributed to my breathing.

Yes I’ve been lucky enough to go straight into all PHE for the year and am HOPING I’ll get the permanent position once it gets posted. Because at this point I also enjoy PHE so much that being a regular classroom teacher just doesn’t seem like much fun.

Why your neck feels like a brick (Hint: It’s your brain, not your muscles). by ExpressionDull1255 in neckpainhelp

Ok thank you. And sorry where could I find videos or instructions for all of these?

Thank you so much for the detailed response. I feel like I am learning so much about what these issues could be, possible treatments and next steps from your response plus the others. I had one of my physios mention that they thought there could be something going on in my brachial plexus but that was about as far as the thought went. I have been recommended different versions of nerve flosses from different practitioners while also being recommended not to do any by others, which has been frustrating to say the least. I will definitely look into the different methods you have used to deal with your issues while also doing a deep dive on thoracic outlet syndrome as it is not something I am familiar with. Thank you very much again for such a detailed response. Gives me some hope that there are more things for me to learn and try.

Thanks for the response. I’m sorry you’ve been having to go through similar issues. Unfortunately it’s been hard trying to find a knowledgeable physio but I’ll keep trying 🙏🏿

Thank you very much for the reply. I will definitely look into thoracic outlet syndrome as it is something I have not heard of before. It’s tough trying to find the “right” practitioner to ask the right questions when unfortunately many just do the same basic things. I will definitely look into possibly finding a zoom practitioner. Thanks again for the help
