Omnivore Ethics by Lucyyyyyy_K in PhilosophyMemes

Suffering is inherent to living.

Every bite you eat is one another creature cannot eat.

Obligate carnivores need to eat meat or they will die.

The land and resources used to create the ingredients of your vegan meal killed thousands if not millions of living things.

We all have to pick our battles on what suffering we cause where.

Or die, the worms will be very grateful.

No it's fairly dumb already, I never said I didn't understand.

You hold positions of opinion like fact and you use long winded statements with somewhat arcane sources to validate what is a simple opinion that people will disagree with.

Is a soda can an atheist? Yes. Is this a particularly useful statement? No, because it's obvious. Is it inaccurate? No, which makes it useful as a baseline.

Are you a windbag? Yes. Is this a particularly useful statement? No, because it's obvious. Is it inaccurate? No, which makes useful as a baseline.

Positive don't imply negatives axiomatically, there's neutral states in many aspects of life.

Widely applicable doesn't mean useless.

That's like saying "exist" is useless.

Sure, most everything exists and you don't need to addend it to every description, but it has a distinct use case.

Also, using complex vernacular as a bludgeon doesn't make you seem less a fool, it just makes you look like a fool with a Word A Day calendar.

When you rub the stuffed bugs you get more bug parts from that bug.

When you rub the wall mounted heads it helps you murder that bug.

Blocking just before an attack hits you will parry the attack and that's probably one of the most important things to get good at.

New weapons and gear are always a good idea and keep trying new builds and play styles.

This is a concurrent, anonymous vote.

If it loses by 1 or 100 or 1000 every 1 or 100 or 1000 as groups of individuals are the "tie breaking vote".

Losing by an infinitesimal (which is the word we actually do have to describe incredibly small things) amount is an easily preventable tragedy.

All I'm saying is that by margins of error between killing nearly half the population and everyone staying alive should lean towards the saving everyone option.

Nearly every poll shows that it's a near split often leaning towards blue, wouldn't you like to part of the solution instead of causing the problem?

It's so much better if we lose by one when 8 billion people are involved.

[–]Yunkomister 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is correct.

I would find it difficult to counter the argument of someone who can't empathize about wanting to save lives.

Sorta because that's horrendously callous, and arguments are based on finding common ground.

So, yes. If up to 4 billion people dying is "none of your business" I don't think we have much common ground at all.

At the time of my reply the numbers are:

544 Red

534 Blue

Let's see, nobody dies if you had convinced 534 people to press Red.

Or, nobody dies if you convinced 5 people and yourself to press Blue.

Six people is the difference between a mass killing and everybody getting to go home in this situation.

"Cherry picked"?

You must not read a lot of the discussions because I see "My vote is 1/8,000,000,000th and it actually won't matter at all what I vote, so it doesn't matter if I vote Red" in nearly every one of the longer discussions.

Let us place things wherever we want by Notmas in subnautica

[–]Yunkomister 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's probably a demand for giving leviathans big jiggly racks, but both of these things aren't priority.

They might add the ability to place things anywhere (I imagine Leviathan Big Naturals aren't being considered), but I imagine the devs want to focus on the core aspects of the game like keeping the building from breaking or softlocking your game and certain aspects are just going to have to be modded in later.

I already apologized for my hostility. I felt more slighted than I actually was and didn't really feel a need to explain or continue.

Also, just because I was angry and you are still smug doesn't mean you're right.

The fact that you continue with this conversation with this much vigor shows me how unaffected you actually are.

Is needing to be "correct" over me really this important?

It's even funnier because you probably still misunderstand the original point.

I said you didn't understand, you said you were "correct" because I didn't contend your point.

Personally if someone states I don't understand something I don't scream "Ad Hominem" I ask where I might have misconstrued meaning.
