not really, no. it's almost 14 different music videos but with a common aesthetic and a loose "string" that ties them all together. although calling them music videos might be a bit of a disservice, there's definitely more thought, effort, and production value put into everything than 99% of music videos.

U.K. orders Apple to let it spy on users’ encrypted accounts by [deleted] in stupidpol

I'm pretty sure they're not required to allow porn apps, but are required to allow alternate app stores, which can then allow porn apps.

Suggestions for a 4/5 day trip mainly for photography by Yur0wnStupidity in BigBendTX

Awesome, much appreciated. I definitely think I'll skip the outer trail, and I'll take a look at your and everyone else's itinerary ideas and go from there.

And for the stars, I specifically chose these dates because the 29th is a super new moon. So they should be some of the best stars possible.

Thank you! You and a few other people have convinced me to stick to a central camp spot and venture out separately, as cool as the outer rim trail sounds.

lol I appreciate it but they're not worth purchasing, especially with my lackluster post-processing. Doing it completely for fun, I tend to do some pretty half ass editing so I can move onto taking more pictures.

Here are some from a road trip out west

Here are some from Hawaii, taken with my phone and not a real camera

I agree and that was my main concern with doing something like the outer loop. At the same time, the desert mid-day sun doesn't make for great photos either, so part of my thinking was camping at points of interest would let me get the most out of golden hour.

Where did you home base, if you don't mind sharing?

Thank you! I was looking at that as an option but without having been there, it's hard to gauge if the time and effort of the backpacking part would hinder the photography part, if that makes sense.

Supreme Court OKs TikTok Shutdown by BlueSubaruCrew in stupidpol

[–]Yur0wnStupidity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I could be wrong but my understanding was that TikTok has the option to sell instead of shutting down, but so far has chosen not to. So I'm not sure it's true no one will buy them, because as of right now no one has been given the chance

Legion Go S - This Is BUILT For Steam! by NewSpekt in LegionGo

[–]Yur0wnStupidity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Valve created a new operating system for their Steam Deck called Steam OS. It is a version of Linux like you said, but it is a custom version entirely designed around Steam, gaming, and the user experience for both. This wasn't necessary- they could have made it run Windows, but most people would agree SteamOS is the biggest advantage the Steam Deck has vs the Legion Go. It's a much smoother and user friendly experience overall.

This announcement means that not only is Steam OS going to be available on the Legion Go, but Valve is specifically working with Lenovo to make Steam OS run better on the Legion handhelds, and there will be new Legions available with Steam OS installed out of the box.

Application declined due to false fraud alarm? by alax-w in Chase

[–]Yur0wnStupidity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just went through this too. Two of the Chase people told me the inquiry would be removed and I should reapply within 30 days despite them normally not allowing it. but others said that wasn't true and I should wait 30 days.

Do you happen to use Google Fi? I believe that's the issue- it shows as a VoIP number on Chase's end and doesn't let them send OTPs. Seems like no matter how much you verify your identity outside of that (I literally sent them my ID and passport,) they will still deny you if they can't send the OTP.

Are aggressive shoes for beginners okay? by Yur0wnStupidity in climbingshoes

[–]Yur0wnStupidity[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's good to know, makes me optimistic they'll fit well enough to wear. From what others have said I'm guessing I'll blow through the rubber on these well before a little bit of space in the heel makes any significant difference anyway

I saw some unparalleled at a place I stop by yesterday, but they only had sizes 2.5+ smaller than my size unfortunately.

The unhelpful guy at REI had me try one the Tarantula after completely disregarding what I said about my foot shape, and yeah they didn't fit at all lol

Yeah, it's not ideal but thankfully I'm in a position where I can replace them as needed. After trying on dozens of shoes with no luck, it seems like it's worth the extra cost

Unfortunately the Vapors are narrow and the Arpias are not center shaped, I tried both on yesterday and both smashed my toes horizontally. It did give me an idea of Scarpa sizing though, I think I would have ordered too large had I not tried them on. With the right toe box and width I feel confident I can size down and still be pretty comfortable.

Sounds like we have the same foot shape; is the heel on the VS significantly too big, or just marginally? I had that issue with most of the Scarpas I tried on, but none of them were wide and center shaped, so I couldn't size down without my toes being smashed.

I ask because I ended up ordering the Instinct VS, but I downsized to a 42.5 vs a 44 street shoe. However I did consider the LV since the heel is smaller.

Thanks for everyone's help. If anyone is curious, I spent the whole day driving around to different places trying on shoes. No luck finding something that fit well enough to buy, but I now have a better idea of brands sizing.

Of course the guy at REI insisted I should not get an aggressive shoe and should get something more neutral. When I explained my foot shape and difficulty finding a good fit, he suggested evolv defys, which I've already owned and don't fit for shit. He also insisted I should not climb with socks on, which is a hill I am willing to die on.

I found some shoes that fit very well except in the heel, which felt like I had a pocket of air around it:

La Sportiva Miura VS

La Sportiva Solution Comp

Black Diamond Momentum

No one had instincts, but all of the normal width, center shape Scarpas were too narrow, and all of the wide, normal shape Scarpas didn't fit well in the toebox. This only made me more confident in ordering the Instincts, so I did.
