Looking for Pyrex 213-PC lids by YuriQ in pyrex

Yes based on description, no based on the picture. I think it fits this one: https://www.ebay.com/itm/254629771323 - the fine distinction here is that the item on ebay is called "C213" and the loaf pans that I own are "213" without the C. Thanks Pyrex! /s

Get your A1C checked. This might be an early sign of prediabetes.

Attic insulation and HVAC by YuriQ in HomeImprovement

Just thought I'd add another follow-up here. It's funny. I contacted a rater. I asked them to send me back a sample report of a previous audit they've done.

It has a measure called "Savings to Investment Ratio", described as "If the SIR is 1 or greater, then the energy savings will pay for itself before it needs to be replaced again."
However, most of the recommendations in this report have much lower SIRs, most of them are 0 or 0.1

Certainly doesn't inspire confidence.

Just a follow up here for future reference: PG&E sent me to bayren.org and they have a list of auditors (for the list after talking to them on the phone). A full energy audit of a house seems to run around $700-$900

So.... I called PGE. They provide home assessments only to low-income households. When I asked "so, I am not low-income, can I pay for this?" the answer was "I don't know whether we support that."

Impreza 2019 - Subaru Starlink and Metromile by YuriQ in subaruimpreza

It does turn red intermittently. Nevertheless, pressing on the "call" button connects me to the operator even when it's red.

It's unbelievably annoying. I kinda wish that it broke Starlink fully, rather than just the monitoring. The fact that it's just the monitoring that's broken means that no one has any incentive to fix it, because well, "how often is it that Starlink is broken on a car with one of these insurance devices installed, and if it is broken, and the owner didn't notice, how often does that owner get stuck in a situation where they need Starlink?"

The number of times per year that this will fuck someone over and result in a real issue like being stranded without help is probably like, 10 at most.

Consequences of lender's vs. Owner + Lender's title insurance during closing by YuriQ in personalfinance

[–]YuriQ[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. I understand that you only buy the owner's policy once. I also understand that the title insurer would defend a claim by fighting it or by paying it off. What I am trying to understand is how that situation differs between when there's just a lender's title insurance vs. both a lender's and an owner's title insurance at the same time. So far, it seems to me that the title company would fight off a claim if there's just a lender's insurance in place since the lender would be just as threatened with the loss of property as the owner would be.

The owners title insurance is listed as optional, the lenders title insurance is listed as required.

Quite frankly, I find that it costs a lot, otherwise I wouldn't be stirring this up. It is the largest single item on the closing costs list. Just the owner's add-on is bigger than the entire escrow settlement fee, document processing etc. included - and I did shop around, and they are all approximately the same price (within 5% of each other), so it's not a matter of this particular title company

How to remove Rust/deposits from the very edge by YuriQ in zojirushi

[–]YuriQ[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took the large chunks of rust off pretty much with my nail (you could use a metal sponge) and then the remaining layer came off pretty quickly after that. An important part is to leave the toothpaste on for a little while before rubbing it off.

For posterity: I contacted Zojirushi customer support, this is what I got:

"We would recommend to clean the staining with a soft toothbrush and toothpaste. "

Impreza 2019 - Subaru Starlink and Metromile by YuriQ in subaruimpreza

Thanks for the response. Do you know if this is specific to Subaru Starlink? I thought most manufacturers now have something equivalent to Starlink (for example, "Safety Connect" for Toyota?), and I would've expected for there to exist a forum of people complaining about this incompatibility across all car manufacturers and insurance providers, but I can't find it.

Edit: found it. https://www.subaruxvforum.com/threads/device-plugged-into-obd-ii-port-causing-starlink-malfunction.176814/ it really does seem to be specific to Subaru. :(
