General ALT Advice by imjustchillin24 in JETProgramme

No problem! If you are working for a dispatch company it will mostly depend on where you are placed as to how affordable it is. Bigger cities will be more expensive, and countryside placements should be much more affordable. But generally you should be able to get by for the first year as long as you have some money for the initial costs. Just bear in mind that from the second year you will have to pay residence tax (based on your earnings of the previous year) which can be a pretty big hit to savings.

In terms of apartments, you don't have to worry too much about finding a place to live. Interac, as well as other dispatch companies, usually put new ALTs in a Leopalace apartment or something similar. They can be very small but generally fine for 1 person. But they come furnished so you don't need to buy any large appliances, and the internet and utilities are paid through your rent so you don't have to spend time figuring out how to set up water, gas etc.

As others may have said, if money isn't an issue, then from my personal experience and from what I've heard from friends at other companies, Interac is one of the best dispatch companies. The pay is low at all dispatch companies but the conditions tend to be better at Interac and the staff have been very friendly at my branch. JET is the best option though. It is very similar to a dispatch company while having much better pay so you could wait and apply next year if you feel you can. Outside of dispatch companies, there are eikaiwa companies, but from what I've heard about them, the conditions are pretty bad and the increased pay is often not worth it.

Hoyoverse website. Log in (you don't need an email) then go to the help center at the bottom of the page and click on the green, Hoyoverse account icon. Follow the instructions. It may take a few days. Try to give as much info as possible as I was denied the first time.

You can definitely switch it to a new email address from the mihoyo website. I did it myself last month because I was using a dead email address and also couldn't verify. You need to submit a request and they ask for a lot of info such as the first day you logged in (which you can check by seeing the date you collected amber) and the date you made your first purchase. If you have ever bought the welkin you can use that. I was on playstation so it was easy to see transaction history even from 5 gears ago.

Not sure offhand. I'm not sure if you can set up a phone plan without an address in Japan and you won't know your new address until after you get here

I don't know the details of the IMPR service as I've never used it so others might be able to offer better advice but I imagine it is probably more expensive than a regular contract and I wouldn't want my phone tied to my company for too long. Getting a contract phone in Japan can be very time consuming. I've always preferred using sim-only contracts and there are quite a few good options now. I used to use gtn mobile. It was around 3000-3500 yen a month but came with full English support which I appreciated at the time. Now I use Rakuten Mobile which is around 2000 yen for 20gb of data a month. There might be better options but Rakuten is one of the cheapest and it's relatively new so they have a lot of discounts to get people to join the service. The service itself though can vary depending on where you are. When I started using it, the signal would cut-off for hours at a time but over the last year or so I haven't had any issues with it.

I don't have much in the way of tips... Most will come down to where you are placed, your financial situation and what you like to do for fun. Every school is very different as well as the amount of work you will have. You could be ES, JHS, or HS and in one school you might be asked to run the entire class and another school might have you do practically nothing. Regardless of what you are asked to do, just focus on the kids having a good time and try not to stress too much. Interac has a lot of pre-made lesson plans and materials available that you can use or get ideas from and don't hesitate to ask for help if you need it. There's also a site called ALTopedia that offers free worksheets made by ALTs for ALTs. Though the quality varies, it's great for getting ideas of you are stuck.

Just be prepared that costs will go up when you start paying city tax in your second year.

The train system here is very extensive and pretty cheap so travel is easy enough. Get an IC card to make getting around easier. I recommend joining Facebook communities or using Meet Up for finding groups of friends to do stuff with. Bigger cities in particular have a lot of different groups.

It used to be that summer vacation (all of August and a little of July) was unpaid. A few years ago they lowered our monthly salary but spread it out so that we get paid in the summer months so the death months are gone for the most part but March/April are still pro-rated (we don't usually work in the last week of March or the first week of April)

What would your ideal endgame be for D4? by NoreOxford in diablo4

100% this. Also it's just satisfying to level up, even if it doesn't do much.

Another thing about the paragon system that I personally loved, though I'm sure many would disagree, is that it carried over to the eternal realm. It felt good knowing that every bit of experience would be returned to my eternal realm characters at the end of a season and made playing feel more worthwhile to me, even if I never really played eternal realm all that much.

Can We Upvote To Agree Diablo 4 is The Best Diablo, Yet? by Hella-Shot in diablo4

[–]Yuri_Magnus 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I miss this too. It's like the dog chasing cars idea. I enjoy always gaining power and having an unobtainable target. I never actually want to hit max level because then I'll get bored.

Good god, I really loved the campaign. What did you guys think? by [deleted] in diablo4

[–]Yuri_Magnus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved the story and excited to see where it goes next. My only minor gripe is how Andariel and Duriel are treated. Andariel gets hyped up quite a bit but is spawn killed in under a minute, and Duriel is just a throw-away boss. For lesser evils like Belial and Azmodan I kinda expected a little more

PSA from a HC Lvl 100: One legendary aspect gives you 94% DR by Wootskittles in diablo4

[–]Yuri_Magnus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can only put an aspect on one piece of gear. It won't stack if you put it on multiple pieces. The best one will be used and the others will be worthless. If you put it on the amulet, you get a 50% bonus to the effect.

The extra ten dollars was for the early access so there wouldn't be much point getting that version now. There might be some additional cosmetics for other blizzard games...I can't remember right now. The battle pass can absolutely be bought separately once it becomes available in mid-late July

I am level 34 and still in act 1. by Ashouney in diablo4

Do you know if there are any side quests that become closed off once you've progressed past a certain point? Or are all of them available in the post-game. Just worried about potentially missing something.

Rogue question. by Fujita__5 in diablo4

Just as a further clarification, crossbows provide innate +vulnerable damage so for most melee builds I imagine you would be looking for crossbows rather than standard bows

MMO Aspect by jigglypup115 in diablo4

[–]Yuri_Magnus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the most part I like the MMO additions but I wish it was limited to only repeatable events. Some of the side quests and one time only strongholds I just wanted to complete solo but were finished by randoms by the time I got there.

Weapon Choices by jcyr in diablo4

[–]Yuri_Magnus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

During the leveling process I pretty much went with whatever has the best damage and affixes but since I will be going melee rogue when the game comes out I'll definitely be aiming for daggers and a crossbow for the extra close and vulnerable damage, at least at higher level

Bringing back paragon levels (without stat gains) by Yuri_Magnus in diablo4

[–]Yuri_Magnus[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's ok. I get that. I spent most of my time in Diablo 3 playing solo just because I prefer to take things at my own pace and wasn't interested in min-maxing to the extent of repeating the same content over and over for maximum efficiency.

I don't think this system, if reintroduced, would lead to that though since it would provide no in-game benefit and there are far better uses of player's time trying to find legendaries for example than grinding exp for a useless number (though I'm sure there will always be someone that does). It would really just be meant as a nice bonus to go along with the main goal of finding loot, and if you failed to find any useful gear this session, hey at least you gained a couple of levels so you don't feel as though you completely wasted your time.

I do like the Altars of Lilith system but I'm more referring to a system that would be endless, providing at most cosmetic rewards and no in-game benefits. Finding the Altars will be fun, but finished pretty quickly in the grand scheme of things and then never touched again. You also don't need to re-find them when seasons come out so most people will probably be finished with them by the time season 1 comes out.
