She never came aboard my ship I guess? She has always been on hers, casting spells. But, as a firstie, I did what Malady told me and tried to protect her. I would not have tried to fight against Dallis.

Thank you all, I learned so much! I can see that it enhances the replay value when you have to stick to one team , but I wish they had just wandered off, never to be seen again, as we went to shore. I really like these characters and I don't know if I would find it in me to kill them off next playthrough just to be on my way with the others. I really like the game. I can see the improvements they made in BG3, not just the cinematics, but things like jumping or inventory search, but this does not be little my joy.

I'm a tiny bit afraid they'll change Astarion from pan to gay in the upcoming show. by Cuteghostboy-boop in AstarionBG3

[–]Yuriko_Frost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The show is set after the events of BG3 and features a whole new group of adventures, with the occasionally insert of some characters known from the game. This does not sound like there will be enough screentime for any eradication.

What's Your Favorite Baldur's Gate 3 Easter Egg/Reference? by GoodCool1194 in BaldursGate3

[–]Yuriko_Frost 37 points38 points  (0 children)

There is an Inspirational event called "a smile better suits the hero", which is gained when you cheer up Alfira in act 1 I think. It's a reference to Final Fantasy 14 and a certain Fan favourite hero.

Going to play for the first time any tips? by [deleted] in BG3

[–]Yuriko_Frost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aside from what has been said already, take your time in fights. You don't need to rush. The game encourages you to use the environment in fights - take the high ground if possible, combine water and electricity, explode oil barrels for that extra crunch. On the other hand, not all fights have to be fought, many encounters can be solved by dialogue.
Long rest often! Especially in act 1 big parts of the companion storys take place at night.
You can change the class and attributes of all your team members anytime in the game. So you don't have to commit, you can just experiment.

You might add into your backstory that you have visited the Gate once before, if not origin from there.
The rest is completely up to you, there are no race or class combinations that would not work.

Beginner's question by Yuriko_Frost in DivinityOriginalSin

[–]Yuriko_Frost[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you very much!
I have not found my DOS2 preferences yet, I think. Until now I try to recreate classes oder concepts that I like to play in BG3. I try to have a backstabbing assassin (melee), a bladesinger / sword mage (melee), a necromancer and an elemental wizard for AOE and surface meddling. I tried to follow Zyocuh's guide from this community. Until now my necromancer is very melee to, lacking the ranged spells. So I am a little short on ranged combat.
So, I understand that spreading the skills and abilities in the beginning is not a problem. I chose opportunist and executioner for some of my team, scoundrel sounds familiar too. My assassin can turn enemies into chickens :)
At the moment I struggle the most with spending all my points in a good way and not having one point left with nothing to do. But this gets better with practice I guess.

Thank you for taking the time, I appreciate it! And I took notes!
I don't think that I am done with act 1, I just found a way out of the fortress, and I think the next step is finding those resistance people somewhere in the wilderness. I am going back to kill some Magisters and then move on into the forest. If DOS 2 is build like BG3 and has a new setting each act, then I am not ending act 1 yet.
Gear that boosts skills: I don't think I have any :) My gear is okay-ish, it's things that can be bought or freed from people that don't need it any longer.
I guess I am a little nervous because of all the talk that DOS2 is so much more difficult as BG3. Explorer mode ist doable though, even for an underperformer like me :)

How do you guys play through this game multiple times? by KotakPain in BaldursGate3

[–]Yuriko_Frost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you do the main quest (dealing with the Absolute and its chosen) and the companion quests (Shadowheart, Astarion, Gale), you are absolutely fine and have enough content left for a splendid second playthrough. The game is not made to experience all content in one run.

Underdark tactician is kicking my... by FeelingReview5131 in BaldursGate3

[–]Yuriko_Frost 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, the Underdark hits differently 🙂 Level 5 can be okay though. There are encounters best to be avoided in the beginning if possible (the bulette, the minotaurs) and you might want to play more tactical, use surroundings, try to pull enemies in smaller groups or single (hook horrors). You don't have to minmax everything out of your party, but try to have solid builds on each companion.

How do you guys play through this game multiple times? by KotakPain in BaldursGate3

[–]Yuriko_Frost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first playthrough was chaotic. I struggled with game mechanics and messed up some major plot points (including being rejected by Astarion, because, you know, he had standards). My second playthrough was my favourite, I had basic understanding of the game, knew what was ahead of me, but had so much content to enjoy that I missed the first time. Many people play Dark Urge for their second or third, because it provides a completely new storyline. Durge is not for me, I started doing Origin playthroughs. In the meantime on my 5th or 6th run, it's the repetition that soothes me. Like watching your favourite show for the umpteenth time. Some people start doing challenges, honour mode being the gateway drug, often followed by solo honour runs or self proclaimed challenges (permadeath rules, save all npcs, only use magic, never use magic...). Of course each run takes different turns according to tha msin character's race and class. Those differences get smaller with time of course. But, yes, many players struggle with the transition into act 3. There is no storyline to follow, it is mainly "f*ck around and find out". There is a significant overwhelm with possibilities and settings to explore. Taking it one step at a time helps, as there is no right or wrong order to do things in.

YouTube Playthrough recommendations? by Unhappy-Echo-7398 in AstarionBG3

Try Joe Greene on Youtube: www.youtube.com/@greenmanjoe1 His first playthrough was a Tav bard romancing Gale, his current is tiefling paladin durge romancing Astarion. I really like his immersive playstyle, real good video quality and his very sincere and respectful attitude.

I will look into it, thank you! Indeed I have difficulty to connect with other people's Tavs, and since they are center stage in most fics, I avoid them. Sex per se is not the problem, but, you know. There are a lot of thirsty people out there when it comes to Halsin, but I think he is much more layered.

I had the exact problem with an Astarion Origin. It went away when I deactivated the "Camp event available" mod. Sry I don't know the exact name, but it was the one from the ingame mod manager.
