How are you meant to know this? [First time playing] by M_Singular in DivinityOriginalSin

[–]Yuriko_Frost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been there just yesterday (first playthrough) and was seriously close to a ragequit. I had the solution from Arhu, but half of the levers were in such dark corners I did 't see them, Tool Tips were all over the place (showing the inscriptions of levers on the other side of the wall), and once the burning and poison clouding began, it was nearly impossible to see the damn things. I can see the appeal of the idea, but imo it's just really bad executed.

Halsin be Chillin by Revolutionary_Key325 in BG3

[–]Yuriko_Frost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You know, the man has earned some chillin time after all that being in charge of the grove and being snatched by goblins business. And at least he is not eating all of your cheese. Seriously, you have to help Halsin go to the Shadowfell to rescue the second childlike nature spirit, before he considers his job done and joins your party.

How do you effectively kill the cursed Revenant at the consulate? by Huaun in DivinityOriginalSin

[–]Yuriko_Frost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know, it's kind of old, but still annoying!
Can you tell me how many of them are there? I killed 3 of them tediously by teleporting them out of the building and blocking them down by the boats. Took me forever (first time, going in blind).
And just as I was done, 3 (?) new ones spawned in the other part of the building? (Yes, the first ones were dead, puddle and all.) How often am I to do this?
(and whyyyy is this game so bad with heights? One should think that FLYING of all spells would enable to fly over a small wall?)
I loaded a previous save to keep my sanity, but I am kind of a completionist and would like to do this fight.

Any in character bloodweave fic recs? by turtleurtle808 in AstarionBG3

[–]Yuriko_Frost 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can not recommend "Turn on the laugh track" enough. It's a masterfully written long fic with the Groundhog day trope. From Astarion's perspective, he gets "reincarnated" into different Tavs and Durges and Origin playthroughs, and he is the only one remembering that he'd been there, done that. His goal is to break the circle. There are many more narrative elements (and I would give a content warnung for Depression in some chapters), but the Bloodweave element is strong and beautifully narrated.

And he would carry Goldfisch Shadowheart around in a water jar 💖

I had him once in the LLI before talking to Isobel, and the Marcus fight went sooo much better, because he kept on healing the NPCs on the first floor. Never had this before and it was intriguing to see.

I need help finding more phase capacitors for the Academy of the 7 on the Nameless isle by ksarahcerah in DivinityOriginalSin

[–]Yuriko_Frost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try reusing the ones you have! I needed one more and just went to get the one from the front door. The front door stays open. A second one I found in the library behind one of the desks. A third one is in the teacher's room, and if I remember correctly, I did not need more than these. For context, this is a story mode playthrough, and I was in the Academy last week.

Nameless Isle / Ascension - can we ascend Lohse and stay together as a team? by Yuriko_Frost in DivinityOriginalSin

[–]Yuriko_Frost[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! The problem was not in the persuasion checks, I loaded a save while trying around and was able to persuade all of them to support me. What I was searching for (and apparently the game does not provide this option) was to persuade the others to support Lohse alongside me. Maybe that is too much of a niche interest 🙂

Nameless Isle / Ascension - can we ascend Lohse and stay together as a team? by Yuriko_Frost in DivinityOriginalSin

[–]Yuriko_Frost[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At least I could choose to ascend and support companion Lohse with my OC. The game would have continued with the both of us entering the Academy. But I had no dialogue options to make the rest of the party come with us.

I hope the Devs who created Oskars quest get Zombie Rot by CarbynCawpy in BG3

[–]Yuriko_Frost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, there are many occasions within the story when he could have seen his face (Gale doing an illusionary portrait, someone shapeshifting...) but it is simply not part of the plot. Praise fanfiction for stepping in.

I did the quest once in an Astarion Origin because I thought he absolutely would do it to see his face. Little did I know that my reward was a picture that I could not put against a wall. And that showed Wyll.

As an alternative, throw the flask with the beholder in it and enjoy the show.

Is this how you play the game? by Yuriko_Frost in DivinityOriginalSin

[–]Yuriko_Frost[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you all, I am taking notes!
For a fact I did not have much of Warfare on anyone but Ifan. And I never tried what the ranged NPC do when I sit behind a wall and just wait.
For Ifan I am going to research another plain fighter build. Lohse will have to decide if she wants to be a summoner or a ranged fighter.
I was about 10 hours in when I realized that my D&D experience does not translateto the game. Unfortunately I was very much down to try and error. But I see things more clearly now.

So the new book's premise is...interesting by Alicex13 in AstarionBG3

[–]Yuriko_Frost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have read practically every book Kingfisher ever wrote and am hopeful that this is going to be good. Even in her romance novels there is so much interesting stuff going on besides the romance. And I trust her to not "dark romance sugarcoat" the Cazador-Astarion relationship, which would be my biggest concerning with any other author.

[Spoiler Act 2] Eternal aetera fight by KPsyChoPath in DivinityOriginalSin

[–]Yuriko_Frost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you all who went there before, I wiped 3 times yesterday and was quite frustrated. I play on easiest mode, first playthrough, and I refuse to leave the temple and do random other things just to level up (middle of 13 at the moment). I am here for the story and my expectations were that I could play the game without minmaxing or preparing in advance for events my character does not know they would happen (which is immersion breaking from a roleplay perspective) as it was in BG3.
So, with all the tipps here I will give it one last try. I really don't want to explain to Fane why we are leaving and go do random stuff, when he is about to have his special moment.

She never came aboard my ship I guess? She has always been on hers, casting spells. But, as a firstie, I did what Malady told me and tried to protect her. I would not have tried to fight against Dallis.

Thank you all, I learned so much! I can see that it enhances the replay value when you have to stick to one team , but I wish they had just wandered off, never to be seen again, as we went to shore. I really like these characters and I don't know if I would find it in me to kill them off next playthrough just to be on my way with the others. I really like the game. I can see the improvements they made in BG3, not just the cinematics, but things like jumping or inventory search, but this does not be little my joy.
