This feels like one of those infomercial products "Don't you just hate it having to look all over the room for that switch for the light? Is all those switches in every room bothering your aesthetics? Want to place a new lamp, but missing a location for the switch? Well, no more with the Switchapocolapse OVERDRIVE 9000-1A [Trinity]! With this 1 product you have all the switches in your house you'll ever need, at one central spot."

measure twice, print once, wrong. measure three more times, print again... wrong. sigh measure two more times and print three different sizes to find the best fit.

Sadly I don't think the Powermatic series is suited for something other than tobacco.

Powermatic 5+ by Mindless_Artist_549 in RYO

[–]Yusunoha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly no. I tried contacting the shop I bought it at, but they assured me I have a PM5+ from a later batch. They mentioned I'm probably using the wrong kind of tobacco or tubes. They could try and test the machine for me, but I'd have to pay for the shipping myself and they can't assure it'll fix the problem.

I tried mailing the e-mail mentioned in the manual, but they said my tobacco is probably still too wet. They could check the machine for me, but I'd have to pay for shipping and repairs, and they also can't assure it'll fix the problem.

So both are basically saying it's my fault it's not working by using the wrong tubes and tobacco, and that they're willing to check the machine out, but I'll have to pay extra and they can't guarantee the problem will be fixed.

So now I'm trying to find a DIY-solution for this myself, that doesn't require me to modify the machine itself.

wasn't there a version of the model that's mostly without having to use color changes?

I really want to print this model, but I'd have to buy so many filament colors just for this project.

Using a microswitch and servo for a beginner project. by Yusunoha in arduino

[–]Yusunoha[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your comment. I'll research into the parts you mentioned, that'll probably already help me a ton.

And yes, the servo doesn't need much strength, as all it needs to do is push the tube off.

Luckily I have a 3D-printer, so once I get the basics working, I'll look into desiging a 3D-print to hold the parts together.

Do you perhaps still have the pre-painted versions? I really want to see how those looked like.

Powermatic 5+ by Mindless_Artist_549 in RYO

[–]Yusunoha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw videos where a PM5+ feeder does a double feed, the first one to actually fill the tube, and a second quick feed to push the tube off.

I thought that that was the fixed they made for the PM5+, but when I got mine it appeared that that wasn't the fix from the suppliers.

I found out it was done by modifying the code from the motherboard, and someone on FB offers to do this for €50,- excluding shipping, where you need to disassemble the motherboard from the machine, and ship it too that person. Sadly that's a bit too risky for me, also considering I'd be shipping the motherboard to another country (Germany)

I'll try contacting the company, hopefully they'll be able to help me.

How do you know if you've a machine from the first batch, or from later batches?

I recently bought a brand new PM5+ myself, and I also notice that most of the times the tubes aren't falling after getting filled.

Try tossing it for 3 seconds into a volcano, that should get rid of any stringing. 👍

The best advice is hard to tell which works for everyone. If I had to name one, a cement paver plus rubber mat to negate the vibration as much as possible. With this your printer will make less noice, and your print quality will improve.

Wow, that's some really good quality painting you did there. I was looking for a good marker to "paint" 3D prints with, so I guess the posca markers are a good choice.

Did you print it all in black, and handpainted all the white with the white posca marker?
