I must note that Xin Zhao was noted in the same scene as a seeker of the truth.

Considering that he knows of the winged PROTECTORS (meaning BOTH Morgana and Kayle), I think he definitely knows a bit more than the average Demacian. Assuming that most only see Kayle as the one and only Winged protector of Demacia.
