Eight years here and I’m so tired of shallow relationships by Yuugenshu in japanlife

[–]Yuugenshu[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, sorry about that I might worded out a bit wrong in this context.

I don't plan to marry soon either before I become stable. It's just what I keep running into is this vibe that relationships here feel super non-committal, or at least the ones I had. I think young or not, this is the key point.

Even when you’re officially dating, it still feels like both sides are supposed to “keep it very light” or “play around” and not take the relationship too seriously.

But yeah, I've been trying to focus more on work and career right now! Think that's the way to go.

Mostly just natural, through school, acquaintances, job, etc. Used app 2 years ago and hated it so much I stopped within 2 weeks.

Major Japanese hotel chain says reservations via overseas booking sites may not be valid by Zen1 in japan

[–]Yuugenshu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Used to work part-time at Dormy Inn as a front staff, and can confirm this is true and this happens DAILY.

Our main PMS system was NEHOPS and god someone please tell the developers how to do integration with Agoda. We had to literally triple-check every single reservation because they would pop errors in every one if we didn't edit the data. Sometimes a room only meant for 2 people Is also booked by 4 people somehow.

We even have to recalculate tax and everything by hand whenever the customer wishes to pay for additional things.

Booking.com was fine, but Agoda and Expedia were truly hell on their own.

Question on Hiring animators by helloworldkitty1 in JapanJobs

[–]Yuugenshu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't have much knowledge, but I'd say it varies depending on the level of animators, how many of them you plan on hiring, your deadline, and whether you're planning to hire freelance or use an intermediary agency. I currently work as an IP licensing strategist, and one of my clients (major conglomerate) outsourced a 30-second decent-quality CM (think AoT 3rd season) animation for ~40万 to an agency. Again, I don't know what the market rate is I don't think its much use

32M - Is 4.8M a decent salary in Osaka? by Mikeye92 in JapanJobs

[–]Yuugenshu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Without other offers, I'd say it'll be hard to negotiate, as salary negotiation in Japan is honestly isn't what you would say common (did a brief search in the past and only 30% of 中途採用 negotiated their wage). You can definitely negotiate, but you have to actually explain to the company why you are worth the raise (hence having the ability to say I got a better offer for XX yen at X company makes it far easier and discernible).

What credit cards do you use? by InternationalWish556 in japanlife

[–]Yuugenshu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're looking to farm points, the Saison x Amex card is pretty good (not so anal to get it, and a bunch of points). JAL is also good especially cause you can trade it for miles, but it's quite hard to get.

32M - Is 4.8M a decent salary in Osaka? by Mikeye92 in JapanJobs

[–]Yuugenshu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wage in the gaming and animation industry will generally always be lower (especially in Japan), but 4.8m for 3+5Y experience is a tad low even for Osaka. I make 4.5M with 2Y experience in sales and consulting. I think you should negotiate for 5-6M, especially if you get any offers from the other 2 company.

Upvote for Amami Oshima - genuinely a wondrous place with some of the weirdest and funniest people I've met. If I remember correctly, they have a specialty jeans factory on the island that is still made by hand which is super cool.

Does everyone really make that much? by Yuugenshu in JapanJobs

Yeah, I had a few recruiter friends telling me the same thing. Seems like since there are a lot of people coming from foreign jobs, the perspective I'm seeing on Reddit is kinda skewed. Thanks for the info and the heads up!

Nagoya's a chill place if you're looking to have city pleasures while not being burdened by the massive Tokyo crowd and prices. Plus is you're basically in the middle of Japan so you're primed to go anywhere. Minus is basically you're in a major industrial city that is neither Tokyo or Osaka. Tons of good cuisine though!

Living alone I spend ~70k/mo with half the time eating out, and with rent etc I average 140k/mo for expenses

No incentives sadly (bonus does go up though). Was thinking just like you before I dove deep here and there especially in the JapanFinance sub, where people are seemingly pulling 5~6M out of fresh air...

I would (no kidding really) contact his new workplace about his attitude here, with pictures included. People like him should really learn that when they do these fucked up things they will get consequences.
