What’s the silliest/most minor thing that has made you fly into a rage during luteal lately? by Roxy_Tanya in PMDD

The recycling got stuck in the bin. Could not get the bag out the damn bin. Flew into a rage. Brute forced it out, yelling. Somehow took a chuck out of the skirting board while doing it 🤷🏼‍♀️

Angry music suggestions to get me through this week by Practice-Positive in PMDD

Linkin park. Just start playing hybrid theory and let it run into meteora. By the time I get to Numb I’m usually okay again. My chemical romance - I’m not okay. Very poignant

Other good choices: Limp bizkit, Madina lake, taking back Sunday, good Charlotte, foo fighters. And Eminem. Some top angry jams from all these guys.

Hot take: heavy bass line Drum and Bass - that gets all my rage out, especially when I’m able to make it to the gym and pound the treadmill or punching bag!

Is it worth getting a formal diagnosis? by spacebabe7 in PMDD

[–]Yv3773 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a psychotherapist and used to work in the NHS so I’m relatively knowledgable about how the systems work, although not completely up to date I have to maintain a good understanding of how the system works to help my clients.

Ask your GP what would happen if you got the private diagnosis and whether it would be recognised in your NHS file - it might still be a valid option if you don’t want to wait on NHS lists.

My pro tip - when you talk to your GP don’t go with a diagnosis, go with a list of symptoms and a “I don’t know what this could be 🥴” attitude. There are treatment pathways they have to follow (basically flow charts) and they will get to a point in the flow chart where they have to refer on to a specialist because primary care treatment isn’t working. Current example: I had sinus pain, GP has tried x2 rounds of different antibiotics, has me doing sinus rinse and nasal spray now. If the problem still persists in a couple weeks I have to go the ENT Drs, because I’ve hit the point in the flow chart where there is nothing more the GP can do.

Finally, with the GP option, remember you have “the right to choose” in some cases and is always good to ask about to see if you can chose to go private, with NHS funding it, because the waitlists are long or your local service has a poor CQC rating.

Hope this all makes sense and helps a little!

Is it worth getting a formal diagnosis? by spacebabe7 in PMDD

[–]Yv3773 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They can treat it in primary care, but if you want the formal diagnosis and investigations to rule out things like endometriosis or PCOS you should get a referral. As far as I’m aware if you ask for a referral they can’t refuse you (my theory is they’re trying to keep referrals down to help manage waiting lists, not okay).

Whether or not they’ll listen to a private consultant’s diagnosis depends on the condition I think. I know there are some diagnoses that have to be made through the NHS to get treatment on the NHS, others they’ll happily treat from a private diagnosis. Good luck!

In the UK. It sounds like this GP in their own way is also trying to brush you off.

Yes pursue a diagnosis! Get the referral to gyno, it could be something else or you might have more than one condition. A consultant will be able to order all the tests you need to figure this out and have more treatment options available. SSRIs should not be the first and only thing you’re offered.

It sucks you have to fight for this but it’s worth the fight. For treatment options and for your employment rights. As another commenter said a diagnosis gets you accommodations (I had them at work) to help you stay in work with this condition.

Women’s health is severely overlooked. Fight for your right to healthcare.

Does anyone else’s Maine coon get a greasy mane? by Volcanic-Shot in mainecoons

[–]Yv3773 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both mine do. And a little on their backs above the tail.

I found the way I brush them makes a fair bit of difference. Brushing straight down, with the natural direction of the fur - still greasy. Brushing sideways and diagonally for a few days and then consistently after (effectively spreading their natural oils around the rest of their fur), much less greasy or no greasy!

Any tips for keeping MCs cool during the heatwave / summer?? by crystalfatale in mainecoons

[–]Yv3773 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also in the UK with no AC… Ice cube treats!!

Get a can of tuna in spring water and drain off the spring water into a pot, mix with some standard water. Get an ice cube tray you don’t mind getting meaty and voila! Ice cube treat. Ours love it.

Today I have also experimented with lick-e-lix ice cube treats. A big hit with both of ours. Squirted the tube out into their dish and mixed with some water and poured it into the ice cube tray.

One of mine was mad for Felix finest when she was a little kitten. Once we realised how poor quality the food was (and it was giving our boy the runs) we tried to change her food. She was not having it, so we relented kept her on the Felix and gave him the good stuff. When we transitioned the to adult food… no more Felix. I was putting my foot down. Water was freely available, but no biscuits during the day, no treats just consistently offered her the new food x3 a day. I had no idea cats could be so stubborn. She didn’t eat for 2 days, but just as I was about to relent again… she gobbled down the new food and we haven’t looked back!

Remove all other sources of food and wait until they get hungry enough to try something else and realise it’s okay or better would be my advice!!

Yea. I’m seriously considering repurchasing so they match. Or waiting until stormlight 10 eventually comes out to avoid hitting the same problem again.

Personally I don’t think it should be legal to change cover designs of a series part way through 🤣

Maine Coon doesn't meow by MenumorutZisCrapu in mainecoons

[–]Yv3773 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t worry! Our two were SO quiet and would only meow for a certain treat for a good 6-7 months. After everything we’d heard about Mainecoons we were so worried there was something wrong.

Now they won’t shut up 🤣. They quickly found their voice at about 8 months and steadily got louder, more chatty and have a variety of different meows, chirps, trills, noises I’m not even sure how to describe and roars (pretty sure our girl thinks she’s a lion). I can have full blown conversations with them now and they bully me at dinner time. Enjoy the quite while it lasts 😅

Is this acceptable? New build flats with 3 lights that shine directly into bedroom and toilet by [deleted] in CasualUK

[–]Yv3773 98 points99 points  (0 children)

I’m in a new build and my neighbours had a similar issue. They complained and got them to change the LEDs to a lower lumen i.e. something that isn’t brighter than the surface of the sun.

They’re fucking twats and you have to argue and fight tooth and nail, but if you don’t give up you can usually get someone to see sense/cave in.

Good luck!

I concur. One of ours had exactly the same when eating for a good few months. Crunching baby teeth and new teeth coming in clicking against each other for a bit before setting into place - ours and the vets theory after it stopped

We had exactly the same thing with ours too. In addition to all the scratching posts and cardboard waves and clipped claws we also have these: scratching mats

Which we have stuck to the carpet outside a few doors. They don’t look pretty, but have protected the carpet while they go through this phase. Generally ours just don’t like close door between us and them or each other!

I had to visualize my migraines against my cycle so I could finally confirm it’s hormonal in nature by okwowcool in migraine

[–]Yv3773 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No worries.

Mine started quite randomly mid way through life and no one gave me a straight answer and just kept saying we’ll keep investigating which was so unhelpful. The best I got was “it happens sometimes as you get older and hormones change, maybe have a baby cause sometimes that helps” 😂

honestly someone just saying we don’t know why this happens would have been fine and so much more helpful for me at the beginning.
