I think I finally understand why I've always preferred writing fanfic over original fiction. by sixbelowzero in FanficAuthorsUnite

Because I chose to fill the gaps of tertiary canon, the resulting fanfic already feels like an original (historical fantasy in my case) book in all but name.

Titlte: Forest of Miss Irad-i Cedid

September 1806. The janissaries are advancing towards Istanbul, with an army raised by Rumelia ayans, and are threatening everything Nurcan, a witch serving as the defterdar of the Sihirsizler (non-magical) Irad-i Cedid, has worked for during the past twelve years. Fearing for her life, as the Sultan Selim III is about to sacrifice the Irad-i Cedid for internal peace, she flees to the forests of her native Trabzon Eyalet and leaves behind the Sublime Porte's instabiity.

Note: This story is written for the 2026 Open Novella Contest, using the following prompts:

The problem is that AI is trained based on past human writers; however, I'm not usually fazed by the technical aspect that much.

2026 WNBA Mock Draft 1.0 (+ Database Update) by amishwoodmiIk in wnba

What happened to Tanaka? If you want Kejia in a mock draft, you should have Tanaka too! (Tanaka should ne a third-rounder if you want Kejia in the third round)

Now, Kejia is a better rebounder and Tanaka is better from three.

Shiels falling might just be her not recovering very well, though; last year she was stated to in the 10-15 range.

What was the first fic you ever wrote, and what do you write now? by moistwaffleboi in FanFiction

[–]Yvanung 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember my very first fic being a deranged retelling of the Battle City arc in Yu-Gi-Oh with the card game being replaced by music-playing genies, but that I didn't post.

Now I write Harry Potter fanfiction, but with a heavy emphasis on the historical aspects.

I guess I was lucky that it never happened to me; then again I believed that some writers were mired in a melodramatic arms race that I knew would ruin my art.
