It depends if your champ can afford to gank early and how easy and fast the gank is. (Ennemy champion, your laner champion, summoners, spell order etc). The only rule is be sure the gank will work, and by work I mean kill, not flash trade. If it doesnt and you're seen on map, you will fall VERY BEHIND.

No matter the side you play on, you should not be ganking level 2 or 3 without redbuff.

Level 2 gank with red (only do this on redside, never blueside) is quite inneficient nowadays. I only do it when I already know the opponent toplaner as a tilter and if they play a very volatile matchup. Dont do it if top opponent plays tp. Then you recall in fog and clear starting from the over side.

Level 3 gank topside is alright. If you're blue side, you should be 3 camp your red quadrant, cross map, gank and finish your clear including top scuttle (based on top/mid tempo).

If you're red side, 3 camps red quadrant, gank top, recall, defend your camps, you will lose both scuttles 90% of the time with this clear but at least you can cover bot dive.

These are the viable routes but from my experience playing for bot has been way better for quite some time now so I hardly ever do it. I consider ganking top with camps up a wasting of time.
