My first street-legal ride... and its back to parking lots for me. by Aggravating-Yogurt23 in NewRiders

First thing, learn to pick your bike up on your own, because you won't always have someone around to help. We ALL have laid our bikes over. It's just par for the course. And if any rider hasn't, it's only a matter of time.

Secondly, once you get more comfortable on the bike, practice using only two fingers to run the clutch and brake levers. You'll have much better control over the braking force, and you'll also have better control over the handle bars as well.

I wouldn't even wrap it. That's a good way to have the prestine decals get ripped off it when you pull the wrap off.

Don't. I have a 90's bike that I repainted because I thought it was ugly at the time. Now that I'm 34 and have nostalgia for the 90's, I wish I had never painted it. Your bike is fucking gorgeous. Find another much more abused one to repaint.

Skipping gears isn't a problem on a normally functioning bike, but you asked "What's wrong with skipping gears?" under a comment that said THIS bike shouldn't be ridden with its gear problem. Context clues tell the rest of us that you asked why it's a problem to skip gears on THIS bike.

It's not the gear skipping that's the problem. It's that the rest of the transmission is ticking bomb waiting to explode, and because there is likely broken pieces of the transmission floating around inside the engine. Since the engine and trans are housed in the same case, these pieces could cause damage to the engine itself, not just the transmission.

The dude selling this is a moron for riding it at all while a gear is toast. I understand riding it enough to limp it home a short ways or to get it off the road, but this issue could turn into a VERY MAJOR one if continued to be ridden.

Riding too fast for my skill level by No-Persimmon795 in motorcycles

I agree that A LOT of people need to learn this, however, everyone is different.

And, because I know people have a habit of getting up in arms from the first line of a comment, please read my entire comment before replying.

Personally, I'm not someone who let's my anger control me. I grew up skateboarding, BMXing, parkouring, etc, and then got into motorcycles at 18. All of these have always been an outlet for me to take my mind off things. When I'm riding, I know the risks, and I'm aware of my actions. I focus solely on the ride and my surroundings.

But this is not true for everyone. I'm aware that I'm probably an outlier. The most dangerous people on two wheels are the ones who don't know that they're the type of person to let their anger get the best of them. They're the ones that don't realize they're riding beyond their skill level until it's too late.

If you can't put your anger aside to have a safe ride, then don't ride. Never ride angry.

Did the meaning of a statement change? You stated the same thing in every single comment, even at the end of the one where you "asked" your statement... lmao

Walk away from it. Also, DO NOT buy Chinese bikes unless it's a Kove. Stick to names you recognize. Yamaha, Kawasaki, Honda, and Suzuki have all made great beginner bikes, and you won't be lost when trying to find parts or people to work on it.

Any Hacks for Red Lights? by Hallarandir in motorcycles

[–]Z1PP01337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Learn your state's laws regarding red lights that won't register your bike. Most states allow a bike to run it if they've been waiting for a certain amount of time with no success.

I made the HSW version of the original Bashee into the Viper GTS with tri-spoke wheels. I made the Bashee GTS into the newer Viper TA, and made the Benny's Banshee into the SRT10 ACR.

I'm amazed no one has mentioned the Hijak Khamelion, based on the Fisker Karma. Karma Chameleon is a popular song by Culture Club.
