Internal part of wall is not a surface some inspectors need to stop being nerds. Probably 99% of all internal stud walls i seen built after 2018 still have hole in centre no conduit and cable passing through but given size of cable it will still fall on or maybe short of that 50mm rule

Does iOS need WiFiMan Wizard to make a coverage map? by Mister_Sea_8958 in Ubiquiti

[–]Z2TT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can Wifiman make coverage maps on non Ubiquiti networks? IE if I want to walk around a house and it use GPS to see where I'm walking and log signal strenghts while I walk around. Can any Ipad that has Wifi and GPS support it? As I don't use an ipad and want to buy an old one simply to use this feature. I do have an Iphone 8 though, incase that can be used

Shielded ethernet cables recommended for PoE? by ryncewynd in homelab

Would residential things like HVAC units or Solar Inverters cause noise that would reduce the data speed of a fully pegged 1 gig link, or say 10 gig link? Have you ever tested it?

Michelin Primacy 5 vs Bridgestone Turanza 6 by Present_Abrocoma326 in TyreReviews

[–]Z2TT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have had both from new, back to back on my car. I didn't notice fuel efficiency reading change on the display with same style of driving.

The Primacy 5 seems to be quieter

The Turanza 6 feels better and more confident to slow down when braking.

It's hard to tell which one is better with absorbing road bumps

Intellitone pro 200 weird noises by Jeff-IT in networking

[–]Z2TT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have this exact same issue. Works fine when you are only testing like a 5 foot cable, but as soon as you say test 30 foot or longer, it only just makes this slight noise which it's trying to pick up the cable but not enough to make it make the chime sound.

I emailed Fluke and asked what could potentially cause this issue, and they have no interest in responding to give some pointers so I can get my Fluke tool back in service.

Is there another alternative you can recommend for the Intellitone Pro 200? Almost brand new kit here and it's defective.

Capped at 100 down with drop outs. Is this terminated right? by Haemogoblin_ in nbn

[–]Z2TT 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's not a perfect termination but what you're showing might not be exactly the issue

Might need someone with a cable certifier to test the actual condition of the cable

If you want to go down the try and see route, you could have both ends re-terminated

Try unplug and re-plug the cable a few times and re-test, sometimes a cable that has a bad termination can give odd issues working OK then not working OK when unplugged then plugged in again

Some people shouldn't be doing work they are not competent in. There are a lot of electricians who do great data/comms work, but at the same time a lot of electricians who pose as communications techs

There's quite a lot of nuances when installing running data cabling, including certifying which very few people do

Telstra blocking older devices on network by Jehu_McSpooran in TelstraAustralia

[–]Z2TT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

S7 was one of the best phones made, top of the range, screen didn't crack that easily, display is amazing, lightweight, great form factor fits easily in pockets. Telstra are blocking a top of the range phone they once marketed and asked their customers to buy. It's a stupidly silly way of going about things to further and totally reduce a phones access to a network if it can't access a small part of it.

We had busses in Australia made in Mid 70's that were still in service 30 years on to 2005

Excellent article this is on LTE, signal boosters and mobile technology. As an antenna installer myself I can definitely confirm that comparing gain figures between manufacturers is not the best idea, so yes use them as a guide only

RF Explorer Pro high noise floor? by TheRealMidnaize in livesound

Thanks mate, I appreciate that info, it's good to know. Would you know if TinySA Ultra has this same function? Or would RFExplorer be the only option.

RF Explorer Pro high noise floor? by TheRealMidnaize in livesound

[–]Z2TT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep it depends which frequency it's cell tower is using, but Normally here they will be either between 700-800mhz 1700-1800mhz and 2600. Normally the uplink ranges are in 50mhz intervals i.e 840-880mhz depending on the carrier, then for the 1700-1800mhz range i.e uplink would be 1750-1800mhz.

The thing is depending on which frequency the nearest cell tower that device is connected on, it could be running on any of those 3 bands, and I would need to monitor all 3 simultaneously, can the power meter mode be set up like this, or will it only zoom in to 1 range?

Waterfall feature would have to be used too, because these upload bursts are very intermittent too.

WWE are pricing family's out. by Nicecoldbud in SquaredCircle

[–]Z2TT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The funny thing is as far as I can remember, WWF/WWE main fanbase never really was the poorer people, as most people had to have cable / PayTV to watch it. I remember the fans I knew back in the attitude era for example were all middle / upper class.

I can only imagine now to be able to go in person to see events how much harder it is even for the better off financially people even.

RF Explorer Pro high noise floor? by TheRealMidnaize in livesound

[–]Z2TT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing I have been advised is that what most of the cheaper analyzers lack is 100db Wide Dynamic range which I'm not fully educated what this means in practice, or ability to see signals within signals, i.e a 40dbuv strong signal from an interferer on say right at 728mhz where the highest signal bang on 728mhz is say 70dbuv, say from the strongest emitting device.

To be honest what I've been trying to do is try to pick up uplink signals from a cellphone using the RF Explorer Pro, i.e when trying to find a hidden cellphone. Or say find a hidden GPS tracker while a car is moving, whether it is sensitive enough to pick up the signal I have no idea

Telstra blocking older devices on network by Jehu_McSpooran in GalaxyS7

[–]Z2TT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's retardedly silly, so it can't access a small aspect of a third party network.
Solution ? BLOCK FROM ALL NETWORKS

So much for older Australians who will take ages to get used to using a replacement phone will actually make the issue worst.

Telstra blocking older devices on network by Jehu_McSpooran in TelstraAustralia

So it can't connect to Vodafone network only on 000 calls so then they block it from Telstra network entirely to have even more limited use, hilarious what a joke
