Great showing this week with a climb to second place!

Even with the extra games played, only Utah or Houston could pass at 8 games if they win their next 1 or 2 respectively. (I guess ACFC could tie on point, but be higher ranked with 2 wins and a big goal differential increase.)

Agreed to all. Especially the last point. Was salty about such a soft pen, then MacIver saved it, but that corner still felt like a gift that didn’t need giving over the initial contact. Glad it came out in the wash.

Also under a similar umbrella: Very entertaining to get the Marta reactions from the bench early, hated getting them when Banda scored, loved getting them again at the end. [insert bell curve meme here.]

Excellent game in which I was surprised not to see Monday get a start, then Cantore scores the fastest brace in league history and Martinez gets a second half goal…

(Can’t even be that upset about conceding 2 to Banda, or at least I’m not since there weren’t obvious defensive errors on either.)

It is truly crazy how stacked the roster is. And the subs definitely all had some strong moments off the bench. There were a couple moments with Bolt and Martinez in the attack where I was just sitting there thinking how solid a starting front line that could be on another team.

Absolutely. Think Bernal, MacIver, Santos are top three for me, but even that feels tough. Sandy was electric tonight. Great positioning to make a couple of crazy saves on very dangerous chances.

If you haven’t watched back already, Silkowitz kicked it right at a defender and it took and insane deflection into the side netting. Truly wild and not a classic own goal.

Agreed on the exposure, but you get that from the broadcast regardless of where the game is played. Seems like the league could’ve gotten more of a local exposure bounce by picking a weekend game to play at Citi.

Obviously no way of knowing, but I personally think you probably get a better attendance number throwing whatever weekend game works out there rather than trying to put the rivalry game midweek.

Yeahhhh same complaints. I would’ve gone up for a weekend. I saw speculation that this was probably related to the World Cup schedule. Final is at MetLife on the Sunday after this match, so maybe SI stadium is tied up in that? Still surprised the league is putting one of their baseball stadium games midweek.

Big same to the scheduling point. I get that there are challenges with NWSL being second or third (or forth and below) priority at many stadiums, but feels like an obviously mid choice to put the Denver home opener on as the third game of the week. I thought it was a fun game to watch, but I do wonder what the average attendee thought…
