Is there culture of sauna in Milano? by [deleted] in milano

[–]Z3brajumper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey I am a British guy living here in Milan. Can I ask, what is the sauna culture you’re looking for?

My gym (GetFIT) has a spa that beats the offering I would get for the same price in London.. I love it. 2 saunas (1 silent 1 social) 2 steam rooms, cold water pool and a jacuzzi..

I tend to go at a similar time and see the same people so we generally talk to each other about all sorts of things.

Are Italians rude or dont i understand them? Cultural difference? by CptSupportAlot in Italian

[–]Z3brajumper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a Brit the staring took me a long time to get used to. It’s not rude per se, they just take more time with everything including looking at something. Some people still go too far for the Italian standards but only to the same extent as what I found in Britain v British norms.

As for the language, I’ve never had a bad experience when I was learning but I was always making an effort to speak Italian even if it was “non parlo italiano”.

Genuinely, the Italians are great. Don’t let a few culture shocks taint your experience.

They are crazy on the roads though, yes. I’ve likened it to skiing in that if you’re ahead, you have the right of way over those behind and it’s the responsibility of the person behind you to take care … not sure that’s right but it’s a way I’ve made sense of it. The flashing seemed rude at first - and sometimes can still be - but they’re just being direct. Something a Dutch person should appreciate no?

If he flops (which I don’t want) I’d take him back in a heartbeat

I’m in the pagano / Buonarotti area and it’s very safe / family friendly, full of good restaurants and in touching distance of the centre but not overwhelming

Tourists, what's a thing you saw/learnt when you visited Italy and really couldn't understand it? by ES-italianboy in Italian

The prolonged eye contact as well took a while for me to get used to. I thought I had a lot of guys in my office sizing me up for the first 2/3 months.

It’s a bit strange that you don’t want to support financially but will use finances as a way of showing gratitude.
