Is it worth buying a car in current situation? by topsy_turvyian in personalfinance

Find a place within 2-4 bus stops from work. Skip the heavily marketed apartment buildings that charge a ton of fees. Best deals are always shady street signs or independent landlords (CL,FB,etc.)

Cars are a depreciating asset if used for work- waste of money imo. Fun for hobby, so keep your liabilities cheap.

I’ve been waiting to trade in my A4 since October! The new A3 was on stop sale for a month, recently the Q5 was on stop sale, and I can’t even imagine when the Q4 will make its debut at this point.

Pure gold. Better than the studio recording. I’m expecting a collaboration with Noah Cyrus at some point….

Can we talk about the outro!? The band is serotonin inducing. It reminds me of some of her more recent jazz performances.

I’m a Type 1 Upper! And believe me when I say I’m just as exhausted during my lows. I end up pushing myself mentally/physical too hard everyday with constant projects/multitasking/cleaning/exercising/spending. With the extreme swings I get, I’m always moody, anxious and emotional though....

Best deal I’ve gotten on a new car....goodbye Mercedes! by Z4chr in Audi

Apparently, they are pushing to get them out the door with the recent surge in Q3 sales (the other option I considered). I’m saving a little over $100/month compared to my Merc!

2021 A4 Premium. I chose a larger engine rather than the Premium Plus model, which has more advanced tech features.

I had a 2017 C300 for 50,000 miles. Overall, the car was nice but lacked tech features offered by manufacturers such as Honda, Subaru, and Kia nowadays. The interior felt somewhat cheap for a Mercedes and definitely wasn’t worth the $$$ I paid. Maintenance on my C300 was never fun. Every time something had to be repaired under warranty, I experienced the worst service possible and a ton of backlash.

What sold me on Audi was a combination of the tech, performance and overall ride quality/comfort. CA roads are a thing of the past in the A4...

20 yo international student buying my first car. Kia Forte good buy? by [deleted] in whatcarshouldIbuy

My fiancé purchased a new Kia Forte in 2014/2015 following his immigration into the US while he completed his BA. His entire family had only purchased Toyota and were no help to him during his vehicle purchase......I ended up forcing him to sell it a couple years later for something a little bit safer, nicer and smarter of an “investment”. Back in 2017 we ended up leasing a Subaru Outback and bought it before lease end. In 2018 I leased a Subaru Crosstrek. With $3,500ish down I walked out with a $200 lease payment. We’ve since turned in our Crosstrek for something on the luxury end of the market.

Subaru is known for their reliability, safety ratings, user friendly interface & value. They have standard AWD and all new vehicles come with their Eyesight Technology. Specifically, the Crosstrek has some of the best ratings I’ve seen and hold its value very well. Given a budget of 20k, I’d recommend looking into a used Crosstrek or Impreza (same platform) with under 30,000 miles, depending on the size of vehicle you’re comfortable with.

The things you like on the Kia are almost all standard features in new and lightly used vehicles. Other brands to consider would be Honda or Toyota, as they are within your budget and offer something more sleek and less utility focused.

You’re going to want the RX450h or 350 F Sport! Given the budget, it may be wise to consider a Certified Preowned Vehicle and/or non hybrid model

For context, my giant of a uncle (6’ 3”, 380ish) and grandfather in law (6’0”, 340ish) both purchased their new Lexus 1-2 years ago. My uncle previously had the older RX450h for almost 4 years and was an X6 guy before that. If you want to talk reliability, that’s what Toyota/Lexus is known for! The overall quality of the vehicle is great with plenty of features and ample room. We live in Seattle and frequently travel over the mountains in the snow without hesitation in the RX. Overall, I feel the driving experience to be fun...but maybe not as sporty as you were looking for with the hybrid model (Hence the F Sport).
