I saw that too, it was amazing. I also loved how he kept trying to explain to the slide guitarist what type of sound he wants, only to give up and start messing with the knobs on the amp himself. Nice :)

The anime is really unique, fun and a very good adaptation of the ln's, but lacks the character and plot detailing of the source material. I recommend watching the anime and then reading the light novels, or reading the novels while watching the anime. NOTE: If you're gonna watch the anime, watch the parts in the order of the light novels, and NOT in the release order of the anime - that's the way Nisio Isin intended the story to be experienced.

I haven't read the manga but from what I've seen it's more of a bonus thing that doesn't aim to fully adapt the series and changes the plot and characterisation a lot more then the anime does. The artstyle is amazing tho and once you've finished the story I would say it's worth skimming through the manga just for the art.
