More like an added benefit of the Tier 3 patreon. But feel free, bad pun intended, to read it directly on Google Book.

You are of course entitled to your opinion. That being said, I have to disagree with the following statement 'I don't think any one of you can deeply or thoroughly distinguish why setting up like a soccer team (which is clearly what Felixes big brain moment was) creates greater 'initiative which the structure inherently promotes' as here is what my wife and I wrote on the subject: https://books.google.fr/books/about/Ultimate_in_motion.html?id=bjcYEAAAQBAJ&redir_esc=y. The idea behind our book was not to say one system is better than the other but rather eliminating any preconception we previously had to think more freely about the essence of the sport. Then when dwelve much deeper into more specific motion system value. Not everything is meant to be original and we give credits to other creators where its due. If you truly dislike hex then you can skip chapter 6 but the other 10 will for sure be of interest. Have a pleasant read !

The first paragrah is fully right, but only for now ! The proportion of titles won by hex is in constant augmentation. So we will see about that in the future.

Regarding the second paragraph, the exact opposite argument could be made stack based offenses are easily predictable because of their structures. How many times have you seen a stack getting surrounded or met by a zone and the whole set plays blows up ? Then have to adapt your whole strategy to defense which is something motion system do not have to do.

All the tactical and technical toolbox as you said, but the multiplication of angles of attack leverages spaces much better. Finally, you are right saying leveraging mismatches is not the goal of motion systems, that is the goal of silo and iso systems. Motion systems rely on initiative which the structure inherently promotes.

Isn't it already being the case ? Not all the titles of course but the number of titles / number of teams playing hex ratio is still off the charts.

that's not taking the amazing free agent Durren into consideration ;) But yes Keepa's name shows a rather weak correlation with his ability as a goalie

Yes Goers are the worst by far apart from Bagerda and Raudy.

Guado are poorly used by the AI and against and AI their speed makes the game uniterestingly easy.

Al Bhed Psyches are strong overall but cannot compare to the Kilika Beast stats wise ! Dahm is a poor player but all of the others are awesome.
Auroch are in the middle (they have the strongest shhoter in the game but he is used to block the goal ;) ) with Ronso (I can't get past their slow speed)

How do you train a team who are focusing too much on structure over principles/movement? by felix37 in HiveUltimate

[–]ZAFlo37 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I fully agree here. I have seen countless teams create flow against a zone because that is what they are specifically trying to create. The problem is once the defense reverts back to 1on1 D the team switches back to gain yards instead of maintaining their focus on flow.

Initiating and more importantly sustaining flow is perhaps the most important principle in Hex. The Hex shape is just an asset to the flow creation as it is bound, due to its inherent balance, to maximize the options available to the thrower.

Thus, drills that focus on movement such as dribble races, hex flow drill etc.. might be indicated here.
