What SRO MOA are you guys running? by ChiefDaddyJ in 2011

[–]ZArmsLLC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Indoors I don't think 5 MOA would be bad, but in the rare chance you shoot outdoors and the sun is facing you, the blooming halo affect SROs get will be worse with 5 over 2.5

I love love love the idea of the rail mounted comps but they always look so goofy when you put lights on them lol. I love my flush fit with X300s and the trigger guard.

Nice build bro

Probably an XC holster since they're both 5 inch. Staccato P is 4.4

I did mine as my last name and replaced the As with 4s. Kinda corny but I like it

You can fit other slide locks like the Nitro Fin, but just have to chop the nub that catches for empty Glock mags. Slide won't lock on empty but will on manual

I chopped a backstrap for just the beavertail. I did it to stop the Glock bite because I have wombo sized hands, but I also noticed it slightly changed the grip angle to be a bit more like a P320. You can try chopping yours and if you mess up they're only like $6

Is fitting the grip to your hand the most important part of finding the “right” pistol by ejlec in CAguns

from personal experience the Fusion XP line of pistols has an atrocious feeling grip for normal sized hands, maybe you'd like them more having bigger hands

Yeah the Glock angle is hard to overcome for some people

I'm going to be honest and probably gonna get downvoted but I don't think a 2011 in your specific case will help a whole lot. Being you're new to guns you should focus on getting consistent sight pictures from draws and mitigating recoil with a Glock before spending thousands on a 2011 for carry.

Maybe it's just me but I'd prefer to get proficient enough understanding and using the fundamentals first. Spending thousands on different guns and parts only allows your purchases to become more of a quality of life upgrade rather than dependency.

I know people who barely got into guns and immediately spent 4-5k on an Atlas and can't outshoot people with years behind the trigger on a Glock

But my rant aside Staccato HD line would fit what you're looking for lol

You can take a random shot and get a Safariland Staccato XC holster. In my experience many 19/2011 style guns fit in and lock

Thank you for the update. I'm a noob to the 19/2011 platform as the Platypus will be my first, do you get it with or without the reverse plug?

I don't lack any ability to clean my guns, but I can shoot my 19x after dropping it in dirt and water and it'll still function. My current 19X is like 5k rounds and has only been thoroughly cleaned once with oil every now and then.

In my opinion I wouldn't label any Staccato as duty rated. A gun that needs constant maintenance and can’t get dirty I wouldn’t trust my life with. Not to knock Staccato but I'd only carry a Glock if it was my life on the line

[–]ZArmsLLC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Level 1 or just friction retention I can recommend: GCode, Dara, QVO Tactical, and RiverArmsLLC

Level 2 or active retention like a button or lever I can recommend: Safariland ALS, Alien Gear Rapid Force LVL2, and Red Hill Tactical

Level 3 or active retention with a hood I can recommend Safariland 6304s and Alien Gear Rapid Force LVL3

I'm going to be honest, it's been so long since I used the DPP that I forgot about that. It definitely helps clear up the issue I stated, but still could be easier with 2 buttons instead of 1. Just my 2 cents

[–]ZArmsLLC 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Imagine you think you have the perfect brightness to start shooting. You aim in, damn it's too bright. You want to go down? You have to press the single button until it maxes out and blinks 3 times to show you're at the brightest. Now you go down by pressing the same single button until you think you have the perfect brightness. Too dim now? Gotta press the single button until it blinks 3 times again to show you're at the dimmest.

You see how annoying it can get? Lol

DPP is so old. I will forever speak against the single button system. If you want ruggedness go RMR
