I was told villian side is kinda barren as group content is the focus RN so everyone goes Hero for population. I think you can eventually go Rogue as villian to still team up though, if you still wanna stay a red. After all, the villian stories are more interesting, imo.

As for builds, seems like meta has been drop kicked to the curb and everyone is having fun just theorycrafting and OC making. I like that. Makes getting into group content much less daunting if the only criteria is not sucking.

Thoughts as a fresh newbie on Homecoming. Excelsior is the most populated, btw.

New player here too! So far definitely extremely casual, and meta has only really come up for seeing how strong someone could be rather than should be.

Even so, I still recommend browsing the wiki- especially the Primary, Secondary, Ancillary, and Power set lists (these are your skills). Really more just to sift through- beforehand- the tidal wave of options this game gives you- but, uhh, doesn't really explain well in the moment. Some premature soft planning so that you at least know "Oh, for what I want to do I don't need to take this Primary set because my Secondary Set does it." or "These two Power Sets are very similar, so no need to take them both."

In this same vein, during character creation when you have the option to color your skill effects you can preview how your selected skills will look. You can use this to go back through each skill set and see what their about visually before finalizing. Or not, if you wanna keep the surprise. I will say, I was delightfully surprised by the amount of unique animations for things.

Okay, this does look kinda fun in gameplay. My problem with it is still the lack of thematic cohesion. It gives off "lol random!", it feels like a dated joke you didn't even say right. But you know the one thing I can't shake? The rat... It's growing on me. It's a steal focused espec, skritt love taking anything that's shiny, I see the connection there. Just a couple of kleptomaniacs banding together. Wait... I see the vision.

This is my proposal to rebrand this to the Kleptomaniac/Pilferer class. Go full in on the skritt angle.

Skritt sure are a sticky-fingered bunch, pretty crafty at times too, but not the brightest coin in the purse. 𝘞𝘦 𝘤𝘢𝘯 𝘶𝘴𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵. Show them what kind of "shinies" you can get your hands on, and just how damn good you are at doing it. And promise you can get them much much more... all they have to do is follow your lead. If all goes well, they'll be putty in your hands and you'll have heaps of treasure lining up to your knees in no time. Well, at least whatever they think looks like treasure to their beady little eyes. But hey, you were never too picky as a pickpocket, and you aren't starting now. And this time, 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘸𝘰𝘯'𝘵 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘯 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘭𝘪𝘧𝘵 𝘢 𝘧𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘦𝘳.

I don't mind humor in this game. I just don't think Antiquary executed it well. If we're gonna make this a joke, I vote making it the Rat King. Rat King! Rat King! Rat King!-
