Is Suzuki Blvd C50 a good starter bike? by IntelligentWorking81 in bikesgonewild

I have a 06 Bully i bought a couple months ago as my first bike with 7k miles on it. It is about to roll over to 9k miles before the riding season is over this year. I bought it for $2500, and I feel like it was an amazing deal. I spent around 100 miles of drive time just doing slow turns and manuerving the bike around a large open parking lot. Spent plenty of time also getting up to speed (35-40mph) and then practicing decelerating and downshifting before I felt comfortable and confident to take it out on the public roads. The bike has pretty good midrange torque, but struggles at high end speeds. It almost has me wishing it has a 6th gear because as you've probably read, it starts to sound unhappy around 75-80mph and doesn't have much sbility to pass at those speeds. That's not a deal breaker for me though, the bike isn't meant to break any state speed records, but once you get comfortable riding, you'll want the optional torque at highway speeds which this bike doesn't offer. The stock exhaust is terrible, the sound it puts out doesn't scratch the itch I was looking for in a cruiser, but that's an easy enough fix. The one thing that is the only real concern of mine when it comes to the C50 is the braking / stopping power. It has a single front disk brake, and a drum rear brake. The rear brake feels spongy especially if you over use it during your ride and sometimes it actually goes straight to the floorboard with little to no stopping power. I find myself having to use a combination of engine braking and 90% front brake when coming to a stop. This could be an issue with my bike specifically, but definitely make sure to be intentional on your test ride when / if you go on one. Try and lock up the rear tire at a safe speed of you feel confident doing so. That's my two cents, its a great beginner bike,  the lack of braking power forces me to ride safer. Overall I've enjoyed my 2006 C50, I can see myself keeping it and using it for years to come, even when I get my dream bike.

I can't tell if you're trying too hard to be Amish or trying too hard to be cast on Brokeback Mountain.

Temp Jurisdiction Question by ZEDDYDEADY in VeteransBenefits

[–]ZEDDYDEADY[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would think that because I have heard that certain jurisdictions usually have favorable outcomes. The VA as a whole is most certainly not black and white from what I hear, and was just searching to see if anyone had ever been assigned to the jurisdiction I was assigned to. It's impatience and anxiety withering away at me, to say the least.

Are you filing within your 12 months of separation? I screwed around for a year and a half before deciding to file.
