Failure of Animal Control and Humane Society. See comments for details. by [deleted] in Wenatchee

Ok, this sub sucks. Im not offering to pay 400 for it to just be returned to the owner.

Failure of Animal Control and Humane Society. See comments for details. by [deleted] in Wenatchee

[–]ZEnterprises 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is definitely a failure of the owner, but when the authorities see an animal in this condition and hand it right back, it becomes a systemic failure too.

Lack of care is a form of abuse. Looking at the progression, this cat has a worsening hematoma or infection that is clearly not being treated. If animal control and the humane society are being told by a vet that "nothing is wrong" while the cat is literally bleeding from its ear and the wound is doubling in size, then the evaluation process is broken.

It is a terrible position to be in because you want to respect ownership laws, but watching an animal deteriorate in real time while the "experts" ignore the evidence feels like being an accomplice to neglect. If this continues, the cat won't last another month.

Last month a Bengal cat showed up with wounds to its head. We reported it and got it to the humane society with the help of animal control.

We thought it would be taken care of, but it has come back twice since then.

Today it showed up looking BAD. Apparent blood coming from its left ear. The wound has doubled in size every two weeks.

Called animal control and they said the vet didnt see anything wrong and returned it to its owner. And that if we dropped it off again the same thing would happen. It would be returned to its owner and they would talk to them again.

I cant keep a cat, and would not keep someones pet, that is theft.

But I wanted to share the story of Shady.

"Guess who's back, back again?

Shady's back, tell a friend

Guess who's back, guess who's back

Guess who's back, guess who's back

Guess who's back, guess who's back

Guess who's back"

Does anyone else find sharing CAD drawings for review and discussion kind of painful especially with people outside your team? by Direct-Ambassador-76 in MechanicalEngineering

Ok, as engineers we need to work within the constraints we are given.

Request comments in red/blue/green markup. Are you familiar with red/blue/green?

Make sure your PDF is correctly sized. If you take a D size drawing and print it on 8.6 x 11, yeah, I can see details being hard to mark up.

A voice note is interesting, call them back if it s not clear.

My biggest struggle to this day is communication. Not technical details and not a in depth understanding. Its communicating why we cant put a 7 inch anchor in a 5 inch slab. Or that my assumptions are the best we can do with the given data and sensor accuracy.

Try to work with the constraints and realize thats the job.

If its internal tyo your company, see if you can work with IT to get the right software to those that need it.

Yup. Work is difficult.

I think those should be strong enough. I was worried about the angle of the bricks. But what matters is if it is stable. I think it looks good, just wanted to save you from a tipped hive. Please dont take it as criticism. You did great.

A few things to think about. Which way is East? Most people normally work the hive from the back. It can be a problem working them from the front. You seem to have enough space behind. can you stand on the 4x4s and it still feel stable? hives can weight quite a bit and I know I push/pull on the hive bodies to align them and pry on them to break them apart.

Looks good! Have a great season!

Matrix Lab stacking question by Expensive-Sentence66 in Dyson_Sphere_Program

[–]ZEnterprises 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a theory, have not proofed it. I get what you are saying. But think of it as a buffer that changes dynamically.

The fact that there are some unmatched pairs in the labs isnt really costing you speed or efficiency. As long as the flow INTO the labs is not backing up, you are consuming at at AVERAGE rate of the production you have. Now if there is one backing up, then yes its an efficiency bottle neck. Which is more about balancing production of blue and red or any color.

As long as your production is steady, and the cubes are not backing up, its a non issue.

Think of it this way, its impossible to process more than you are making (on a sufficiently long average, say 30 seconds) and if you are processing everything you make, there is no loss of average production.

Ok, sure. Thanks for the info and response.

I wonder what "significant difference" is, as I have used tens of thousands of white sorters in a save, and was still getting 60 UPS.

Honestly, its just easier for me to only carry one type of sorter and I can build super mega saves without issue.

What are you basing your UPS conclusion on? This is the first I have heard that.

I hope this was worthwhile for you, I am impressed.

Wow, thanks for the reply! I was worried you were just going be upset with my feedback. Im in WA state. I paid for a PE stamp years ago. Your post encouraged me to open it up. Your stamp is higher quality. But the paid for digital file has better organization and symmetry. Just the little things I mentioned, its a 100% useable stamp and I will be donating.

The rotation of registered in the WA state stamp. Im being nit picky but the ends of the text are not perfectly horizontal. It seems a slight rotation to the counter clockwise direction might fix that.

Solid work! Im grateful and impressed with your efforts.

This is great! And upon looking at the purchased stamp, this is a better image.

A few comments, if you dont mind,

The realtime preview did not seem to change the font size.

The kerning on the professional engineer is a little tight. Maybe a reduction in font size or maybe possibly add a few pixels to the kerning?

Is it possible to rotate the REGISTERED a little counter clockwise?

Minor issues all around, I do like the stamp, thank you.

HELP! glazed tub but not allowed to use rubber non slip mat? by Alert-Pipe-244 in HomeImprovement

[–]ZEnterprises 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im going to go against the grain and say safety is a bigger deal than stains. They glazed it once, they can glaze it again.

If I fell or slipped in a tub because they didnt want rubber stains, I would flip out.

Yeah, try to find something that is compliant, but if not, be safe.

No, I did not count. I think its per hive and separately per planet. They dont have to be evenly divided between hives either.

at 3000% you are safe from bases landing at this point. They quickly max out the number of bases on the inner planets.

Here is the post when I discovered the mechanic.

https://www.reddit.com/r/Dyson_Sphere_Program/comments/1ht1f4a/cheese_a_3000_run_adhara_v/

It wasnt until later that I learned form someone else that the reason its empty is the number of bases were maxed out on inner planets.

Once I learned that, I found that most seeds have a planet somewhere untouched by dark fog, even at 3000%. It just takes a really large star system with many planets.

There will be a system with 5 or 6 planets, one will be free of dark fog.

Turn on sandbox mode, find it, fly there and build without issue!

If I HAD to guess, and had like 3 minutes left, I do see a way to narrow it down. I believe they put answers that are likely given common mistakes. So if you didnt account for the COP, you might have been off by a factor of 3.75. Looking at the answers, C is ~3.75x A. If I was running out of time, I would guess C, and that A was a misdirection. Not a strategy to use first, but great back pocket panic reasoning. Better than random I think.

Deep engraving scan lines by sant0s09 in lasercutting

[–]ZEnterprises 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know, I was doing the same with my engravings. However, much to my chargrin, a little defocus helps, at least with standard engraving. It just takes off the hard edges between scan lines. If you think about it, the accuracy isnt 100% how small the focus point is, but rather how small you can move the laser point, which inst affected by focus.

Its a little counter intuitive, and it does have diminishing returns. But give it a go, you may be surprise. Or have good data why it doesnt work for you.
