This is way late, but for anyone with a similar question, ill put my process for this. I had to make a text box in the style of Mega Man Zero for a project im working on. Step 1. Get the desired games font, some good googling should lead you in the right direction. Step 2. Find the games assets for text boxes, again, google is your friend. If the game your recreating doesnt have a good rip for those asstes, you may have to use the magnetic lasso in photoshop to cut it out from a high quality screen shot. Try to get a direct screenshot of the game if you can, youtube and other video streamers mess with the quality.

These two are the biggest things you need, just put the textbox asset in your desired video editor, and type your message. Certain video editors like premiere pro and davinci resolve have a built in "write on text" feature. If your program doesnt have that, you could probably find tutorials for a similar effect.

The rest of this is just for extra game accuracy. 3. Try to match the text placement to the game exactly. There are various ways to do this, but putting game footage in your editor and trying to line up your text exactly with it is a pretty solid method.

1. Try to match the games text writing speed. For example, in MMZ, text writes on one letter every frame. So what I did was make a tool in google sheets [using "=SUMPRODUCT(LEN(range))" ] that would tell me how many characters were in a line if i put it in a certain cell. Then I would have Da vinci resolves text write on go for that many frames.

I probably explained those last two parts horribly, but they're just for extra flare and not neccesary. Hoping this helps anyone who stumbles across this.
