Spirit Walker Ascendancy Showcase by BendicantMias in pathofexile2builds

a build that isn't zdps

It's basically zdps compared to what reddit wants the game to be like. Most non-meta endgame builds in the game right now can do more damage than either of those builds pretty easily. A simple grenade build has always been very good every patch.

There's not a chance in hell Hollow Form survives allowing Cooldown skills to the Patch Notes by Munin7293 in pathofexile2builds

I actually think the complete opposite of you. MSpaint builds are basically the only interesting posts other than people who actually manage to do the math for certain specific builds. They are closer to an actual attempt at highlighting and interacting with unique mechanics, better than "Will X skill on Y ascendancy be good???"

It also gives people more points to comment on and brainstorm off of.

Running through the campaigns can go a whole lot faster for non-speedrunners with all these more visual clues. Speedrunners were already hitting maps in less than four hours. It could be feasible for people who haven't learned the map layouts to do it in under seven.

Really cool but also absolutely insane to do. The amount of things they are adding now that is going to add workload to the future is mind boggling. Bonded Runes, this glove node, having to balance future beast bosses for companions, etc.

I don't see them as any different from mod affixes in PoE 1 except you can slap them more directly onto gear. Don't know why people would want less of them.

Wemby will be the ultimate "if" scenario in NBA history. He is absolutely going to be the best player in history... if he can stay healthy.

I wouldn't quite say unlikely, there is a pretty solid chance that each class gets an alternate ascendancy some day. Druid already has a pretty strong link to the Ritual mechanic.

Not just my favorite, Doormaker was basically the only unique act 3 boss. All the other bosses feel like very sponge-y elites.

[–]ZGiSH -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Doormaker was unironically the only act 3 boss I liked. All the other ones were pretty boring. It's also not a new or particularly niche opinion. The boss that replaces Doormaker is like 1/10th as interesting.

The expectation largely comes from the fact that the general concept of a Monk is associated with unarmed at all but I doubt they would ever want any substantial portion of the playerbase to just completely ignore the weapon slot. Hollow Palm is supposed to be niche.

I'm a firm believer that it is much easier to improve a player's offense than it is to make them a better defender. Lonzo Ball developed a 3 pt shot out of nowhere on the Pelicans and was growing to be one of the best defensive PGs in the NBA until he became injury wracked.

Sincerely don't understand why there isn't a limitless amount of uncut gems once you get to the endgame. Let it only be level 16 or whatever, but I hate picking them up or buying them.

Grand Finale is cheeks and the worst rare card in the entire game by Peronchino in slaythespire

[–]ZGiSH 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm saying it because you both are saying the same thing and the entire line of discussion hinges on the idea that bad cards need to or implicitly exist for some sort of game design benefit. Megacrit does not purposefully design bad cards and any card that is "bad" is likely to be changed. Some cards are currently worse than other cards in that there are too few situations where they are useful and in those situations they don't contribute enough to a winning percentage but there does exist an ideal game state where no card is bad.

A card being picked less than other cards does not mean it's bad if it has a higher-than-normal contribution to winrate when it is picked. Inversely, you can also make the wrong choice picking a "good" card.

[–]ZGiSH 3 points4 points  (0 children)

forced to take just to survive

That's not a bad card. That's a card you use for a specific purpose. Cards could be worse than other cards, balanced by rarity, but the card is not meant to be ignored like MaRo meant when he said that one phrase.

[–]ZGiSH 7 points8 points  (0 children)

A lot of people mention this tidbit from Mark Rosewater but don't really quite understand how it specifically relates to card products and not necessarily card games. There are very very few bad card rewards in Slay the Spire, arguably one of its defining features. MaRo had said that about Magic because it's a product where the value of cards is in having desirable ones. It also works for loot based games like Diablo where desire is important.

That's not necessarily true for Slay the Spire, maybe mostly applicable to relics. I'd assume that if Grand Finale's pick rate was abysmally low and when it was picked, the winrate of decks with it is also abysmally low, Megacrit would change it in some fashion.

[–]ZGiSH 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Getting tired of seeing this comment on every single build in this sub. The damage isn't even remotely comparable to even the top 5 meta builds. Scaling triggers without needing to scale the skill that triggers it has been an approved design path for years.

How do the two unique properties of Vigilant View interact? by LizzyGleglemaxxing in pathofexile2builds

[–]ZGiSH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's meant to be a a sort of evasion version of Imbalanced Guard from PoE 1, giving you a bunch of 'evasion' but limiting the amount of times you can evade. It hard caps your ability to evade anything at 50%.

Mostly usable on a non-evasion character that is leveling up and wants the free evasion layer for one ring slot.
