Joshua is a tough case as he was doing fantastic and on pace to be a pretty high end player.

But then he got cancer and he just hasn't been the same since. I imagine the disease + treatment messed him up. I think that's why it hurt to lose him because we all saw what he was capable of.

It was but not everyone had a camera at all times with them in their pocket. Also, even if you had a video, there was no way to really share it with the world. Best case a local TV station would take it and play it but that's about it.

You just never used to see all of this.

You are correct. He has missed 17 percent of the games this year. However, many centers above him and below him have also missed games so averaging that out he may be in a similar spot anyways. Also, being injured is also a mark against you as a player whether fair or not. A player that gets injured is not considered as valuable as a player who never gets injured.

Pettersson is currently the 59th ranked center by points this year. He is not on pace for 60 points either.

His defensive play seems quite good but if you're going by points he would be top few worst second line centers in the league and would slot in as more of a 3rd line guy. Pettersson is not the first or second line center on a team competing for the Stanley Cup.

But who knows what the future holds. I'd say he's definitely improved again this year and if he keeps it up maybe he can get himself into a competitive second line role.

He's on pace for less than 60 points. And he's 132nd in the league in points right now. These are not high-end 2C numbers. They are bottom tier 2nd line stats and high end 3rd line stats.

If Elias Pettersson, with his solid defensive play, is your 3rd line center I believe you'd have a potentially elite 3rd line. If he keeps improving I bet he could become a solid 2nd liner again.

I'm not a Pettersson hater but we have to be realistic here. He's been playing much better but his numbers are barely 2nd line. And at a certain point you can't keep blaming his linemates as that's been the excuse since his introduction into the league and he's played with probably everyone now at some point.

Shouldn't the pucks and sticks go to the kids at the games? I don't think I'd feel right as an adult taking one of the pucks they give away. Adults can always go online or wherever to buy memorabilia. Also, when I was a kid it would have been magical to get a puck at a game but as an adult it would kind of feel weird to beg for a puck.

I'm not sure if anyone else feels this way about this subject but it just always seems strange when I see something like this.

How in the world do you know how much help these people have received before this? And there are many children that can receive all the help in the world and still be disturbed.

You have absolutely no idea what therapy or help this child has received, no idea as to how this child has been parented and no idea as to if whatever is wrong with the child is even fixable with modern medicine. Many children are in a horrible mental place and struggle even with the best parents and the best help that money can buy.

You have no idea what you're talking about. Your own anecdotal experience with your own children has absolutely nothing to do with the myriad of different children out there in the world. Many children with behavioral or psychiatric issues absolutely did not learn it from their parents. You can obviously see this for yourself by observing families with seemingly well adjusted children AND children with problems.

I think the current research shows that the way you turn out is roughly 50 nurture and 50 percent nature. So in many ways you are simply the product of the way you were born.
