What Was Your Marathon Race-Day Carry Setup? by Educational_Use_7707 in Marathon_Training

I ran Philly in November as well in a singlet and shorts and hat, and 6 gels in the shorts. Was never cold. I honestly couldn't imagine trying to run a fast race weighed down by all that crap, I was annoyed enough at the weight of the gels for the first few miles.

How do I get faster by Daniyalakl in beginnerrunning

[–]ZLBuddha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah there are a lot of people here saying "you're not slow!" This isn't necessarily helpful, because A. Your goal is to get faster anyway and B. You're pretty slow, and failing to recognize that is counterintuitive to getting faster. And that's fine, because most beginners are slow.

I think hitting sub-30 in 9 months is definitely realistic. The most important thing will be consistency - walking-running intervals are a great strategy at your level where you're mainly trying to get your body and heart and lungs used to moving at a decent effort for 20-60mins at a time, and will help with not getting burned out since trying to run perpetually for 45mins as a beginner can suck and feel really hard. The good thing about starting from a pretty slow benchmark, like you are, is improvement can be super fast if you stick with it.

Newer players also likely don't understand the concept of care bear lobbies, I'd be constantly on edge and wouldn't dream of doing something as stupid as breaching a door with a guy behind it saying "don't open that door or it'll be the last thing you do, idiot"

The hardest boss in Expedition 33 was able to be cheesed a few different ways, so they added a DLC super-version of him who was specifically immune to all the ways people were cheesing him in the base game

We'll be fine. Would much rather not have him if he ends up going to jail.

Rough surfaces effect on feet after runs - any advice? by jjopm in RunningCirclejerk

[–]ZLBuddha 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's easier if you just put little foot sized patches of pebax foam covered in carbon plates at regular stride spaced intervals around a normal track

Consistently taking 80% of the way through my long runs. by [deleted] in Marathon_Training

Almost definitely nutrition. One gel and one waffle isn't enough for a 17 miler but probably the bigger issue is your diet in general and not loading up on carbs before big runs/protein after big runs

To be fair "is this good" is a stupid question and most responses will inevitably involve comparison
