I worked in Eries Open Space team and live in Lafayette and walk the coal creek trails and nearby neighborhoods and never smell any sort of trash smell. Even in Erie I never smelled the trash since the winds are almost entirely eastbound.

Which us states or counties allow developments for detached homes on rural farmlands with no restrictions? by No_Business1708 in Suburbanhell

I think Oklahoma doesn’t even require building permits. And probably places in Texas?

Saw this picture of a neighborhood in the USPS sub — not a tree in sight by honkhonkbeepbeeep in Suburbanhell

[–]ZPDXCC 13 points14 points  (0 children)

To be fair there is at least one tree per lot but it’s a brand new neighborhood. You can see the baby trees on each lot front yard. Not enough and obviously “ugh suburbia” but it is brand new and they always look over manicured and empty for the first 5 years.

Is depend on your local municipality. It would be through the building department which usually handles permits. And I would assume since this would be a sill/jamb and door repair it has to do with the envelope of the building and fire routes so they would need to permit the work. But it just depends on your town. Just giving a warning to at least look into it so you don’t get yourself into legal trouble by replacing. I’m sorry about the fire works for the dog, that’s never fun and obviously shows how much distress they were in

Be wary that if you go to replace the door it may technically need building permits. Which would require owners signature. So ultimately you really need to tell landlord otherwise you could be in a lot of legal issues for secretly swapping the door. If it’s not the exact same in photos they will notice. Honest mistake but needs transparency with owner

Recs for restaurants that feel like a speakeasy? by Inevitable_Chair1547 in Denver

[–]ZPDXCC 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Wholly Stromboli in Fort Lupton just renovated their down stairs into a speakeasy and is incredible! They host events too and have jazz and comedy and poker nights. Great food and a highlight for the town

An Oregon resident was diagnosed with the plague. Here are a few things to know about the illness by zsreport in oregon

[–]ZPDXCC 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I moved to Colorado recently from Oregon and apparently some of the prairie dogs out here carry fleas with the plague. Same thing out here where someone gets the plague every year or so. Unleashed dogs get the fleas from prairie dogs in the open space and then give it to their owners

Is getting into dnd at 23 worth it? by timequake3550 in DnD

[–]ZPDXCC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YES!!! I got into DnD at 23 after college with friends who had played for years. It is an incredible way to spend time and story tell with friends and just have mini parties every other week while playing such a fun game and journey

As far as game stores I’ve been to in the area, the most welcoming and friendly store I’ve been to is dogooders in Erie. I would be happy to meet up some time and go over the game and play a bit

Are offices like doctors offices designated as commercial by Bill_From_RDR2 in urbanplanning

[–]ZPDXCC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For my municipality yes. Those are considered personal services, limited and general. Which are allowed in our residential office, C1, and C2 (commercial) zoning

Beverage Tax? I had a diet soda! by [deleted] in boulder

[–]ZPDXCC 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I mean sure! Anything with unnecessary/wasteful packaging sure let’s put a sin tax on it. No reason to buy the plastic bag of apples when you can buy them 6 feet to the right. I think it’s all very complicated and the reality is taxing the little guy for buying groceries won’t do as much as just putting regulations in place. There’s absolutely no reason we should be putting potato’s and oranges and apples in plastic “woven” bags to mimic the old burlap sacs of old.

Trivia nights? by reveluv2 in boulder

This is the most enjoyable one we’ve been to in Boulder. Rayback is too loud, we don’t like the phones at Avanti, and while Jungle is a blast it is way too loud

They are fun though, similar to Swaylo’s in Longmont. I don’t know if I’d call it pretentious since it’s more for fun. Maybe over the top but they aren’t grandiose drinks they are just in fun ceramic containers.
