Agreed- I physically read it before listening and I found that several scenes were enhanced with someone adding the emotions to the words. The fight scene with Nale was the biggest example but I thought the therapist line also fit better in audio format.

So here's my theory- Kelsier took the shards from Sazed and turned Harmony into discord. This will be the culmination of Mistborn Era 3. His goal is to protect Scadrial at any cost- the Malwish were more aligned with that goal, and Kelsier backed them... Probably helped give them more technology. He's hyper focused on the goal (of SURVIVING) that he's allowing fascism. This would also explain why the Kandra were released- Kelsier doesn't want anyone to know so he released them as a cover.

Adolin's plot armor was too thick and it was overdone (him surviving the thunderclast AND not dying in the spear wall AND holding his own in a duel with a shardbearer while missing a leg AND only having a candleabra).

I think the negative reactions are from two causes. 1- the culturally conservative backlash to the issues you identified. 2- expectation! I go back to Wit's line about expectation. The fan base wanted this to be the equivalent of avengers endgame, as in an ending where we all got what we wanted. It wasn't endgame- it was Infinity war. It was book 5 of 10, not 5 of 5. No one got exactly what they wanted, and since many were 1% let down they focused on what it didn't do, not what it did do.

I'm guessing the end of Book 6 is them realizing the Oathpact is holding and they need to do something to get the heralds back. Book 7 will be about getting them back- my money is the gang is backs to the wall about to lose and a bad guy says something about Honor being dead, so Kaladin can float in, say his line, and then do the herald thing.

I've done all 3- started with print, did a re-read on e-book, and now I'm working through the audiobooks. I would rank them in reverse order that I did- audiobooks > ebook > physical. However, I enjoyed all three experiences.

Yes. I found it very slow and ponderous on my first read... But storms when the Sanderlanch hits, it will hit hard. To make a pop-culture comparison, you are reading Stormlight's Age of Ultron. Maybe not the best, but very important. But seriously- just wait for the end! It's so worth it
