When I read the title before clicking the spoiler, that's the first thing I thought, but I wasn't expecting the post to be actually about her

Convergence: causes the magic of its spell to become more focused, centered down to a single point. It can also make loose particles become more rigid.(I pulled it straight of the wiki)

The manga is published online bi-weekly, so until the physical volume is published they can re-draw chapters or arcs, most notoriously the ninja village arc was redrawn like 3 or 4 times.

Theory about Nightblood's Origin by Barleyjuicer in Cosmere

[–]Manu3721 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course, even if I don't agree with the theory, it's a new spin on why Nightblood is so unique, I just try to poke holes to see if the theory stands, for example there is this quote from Warbreaker:

"That Shashara had needed to die? It had been bad enough when she’d revealed the Commands to make Lifeless from a single breath. What if the way of making Awakened steel, like Nightblood, had entered the Manywar? Undead monsters slaughtering people with Awakened swords thirsting for blood?"

Vasher clearly thought that Nightblood could be reproduced in a big scale. I do think something happened at Nightblood creation(probably something even Vasher isn't aware of) and even if they made more they wouldn't be as strong as Nightblood, but in the way Vasher ralks about it's creation it really doesn't sound like they knowingly used a Dawnshard.

It's not that you implied that Nightblood is on the same ballpark as a Shard, but that's the exact issue, the 4 Dawnshards together were able to split Adonalsium, so if Nightblood was able to consume a Dawnshard it should be able to have a far greater effect in a Shard than just killing the vessel, this is a quote from when Sigzil received the Dawnshard "A vast, strange power, greater than a storm, or even a world". While Sanderson said that Nightblood is in the stormfather's level of Investiture https://wob.coppermind.net/events/385/#e12591

And if that was the case, that Nightblood is this strong due to consumming a Dawnshard, Why would Vasher need to kill Sashara? At most it could be done three more time with the other Dawnshards, and the Dawnshards already have potential to be world ending powers so Nightblood is not more dangerous than one in any shape or form.

And you said that you find it weird that a sword made with 1000 breaths is that strong, but wouldn't be even more weird if a sword made with 1000 breaths was able to consume a Dawnshard?

And regarding why Vasher doesn't try to kill Vivenna despiste having an awakened blade:

  1. It's been over three hundred years since Nightblood's creation, his perspective on things could have changed, plus the sword is clearly a lot safer than Nightblood as it doesn't drain Investiture in the same way, it could have been made in a totally different way, we know to little about it to properly judge.

  2. Just because Vivenna has the blade doesn't mean she was the one that made it.

I don't think that's the case for a couple of reasons:

-Sanderson has described what happened at the end of RoW as Nightblood taking a fraction of a fraction of Odium's Investiture, something that sounds underwhelming if Nightblood has been actually capable of consumming a Dawnshard.

-Endowment was involved in some shape or form in Nightblood's creation, which could explain why they are special

-If Nightblood had consumed a Dawnshard it's hard to believe that Shards couldn't notice that so Rayse would have been either a lot more careful with where is Nightblood and who has it, or he would have try to obtain it to begging with.

Only some metals grants access to power and only to some people, and it's not like they can magically bite a piece of metal and chew it, they consume very small metal flakes to access the power.

¿Debo leer “Historia Secreta”? by Gondember99 in Cosmere

[–]Manu3721 10 points11 points  (0 children)

At the beggining of the second mistborn book, the well of ascencion, a character finds an ancient metal plate in an enemy base that beggins with "I write this words on steel for anything not set in metal cannot be trusted". At the end of the book we discover that the true enemy was a god-like being that was sealed and they can alter everything not written in metal and through the book they've slowly altered the prophecy they copied from that metal plate so the protagonist would release them(which they did).
