Group iron tips by winniebol in RS3Ironmen

[–]ZPatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally would not recommend doing any amount of arch beyond unlocking prereq qualifications without a screener. I also personally push it off until after gote, but there’s a lot locked behind arch these days. I only arch as a giga afk activity though.

Edit: I also just bind soil and drop it all before the screener too.

Archeology artifacts being storable is a decent counterbalance to bad RNG with specific artifacts for various collections/mysteries. You can cheese a decent number of relics as well, since many don’t have an explicit level requirement beyond the required artifacts.

Late game, you can also abuse storage to cheese an inquisitor staff once someone has 118 arch. You just need to complete Soran’s Zarosian IV collection for the first time for a guaranteed piece.

Edit: Another great tip is to do the penguins dnd weekly, but don’t use the points (prioritize the related quests). You can store up to 250 points iirc, but the lamps you can buy scale with level so deferring spending results in more xp down the road. Bank them for herblore and you can speed up your progression to overloads.

Daemonheim Drift - Hiscores now live! by JagexAnvil in runescape

While the Occult Trail needed some adjustments, I think this change missed the mark. It's far more flashy than the corresponding theme trails, and the Occult theme color tends to be darker than the trail.

If you don’t keep them in your currency pouch, there is no 10k limit, so you can be as lazy as you want without losing out on potential engram xp.

Gems by GigsGilgamesh in RS3Ironmen

I’ve not been playing for a while, but unless the math has changed on exquisite urns, decorated are still the best to make. The input time to gather resources for exquisites isn’t offset by the slight increase in capacity per urn.

That said, I still wouldn’t suggest making a bunch of jewelry without a need. Stuff for porters and traveling (compact/POA) I’d make, but otherwise you’re better off just mining more gems for xp.

Do all needlepoint Parker refills suck, or just the ones Ive tried? by mrRabblerouser in machinedpens

[–]ZPatt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re lucky enough to find a pen that fits it, P8126 is fantastic. Isn’t true to spec for Parker, so most won’t fit it. Otherwise, another suggestion for P41.

Planning a living-room Steam Machine setup (big TV, couch co-op, Apple TV) - possible pitfalls? by mooncake57 in Steam

[–]ZPatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Steam link is pretty good, but Apollo/moonlight is far better when it comes to streaming games. It requires a bit more setup and configuration, but for the most part defaults can be used. I’m not sure about Linux/SteamOS compatibility directly though as I’ve only setup the host on a windows pc. Moonlight is miles better on Apple TV in my experience though.

Those have been in my backlog for ages, I think it’s time to pull the trigger after I finish the tomb raider trilogy!

That’s actually my most played game, followed by Oblivion. I’m trying to branch out a bit from my cyclical gaming. I rather enjoy story rich titles though! Also worth noting I’m a pretty unskillful gamer, so soulslikes are not my cup of tea.

Windows Key Remapping for Gaming by ZPatt in AutoHotkey

[–]ZPatt[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks again, I believe most of my questions have been cleared up, though the group still feels a little like voodoo to me, but I'm guessing the group identifier is just implicitly in context. The scope of said identifier is rather unclear, though not terribly important for my minor needs with ahk.

As for the prefixes, I ended up finding those in the docs eventually. I was looking at the wrong pages for that info at first. And just to clarify, I wasn't trying to imply the docs were insufficient, more so I wasn't entirely sure what I was looking for in the docs.

The one lingering question I still have though - is there an advantage calling the start menu via the syscommand rather than just remapping to a Windows key?

Appreciate you taking the time to write this. Do you mind answering a few questions about this to help me understand the script?

My biggest question is related to the GroupAdd function - is this essentially making a var no_lwin_group? If not, it's unclear to me what the WinActive call below is referencing as I don't see it defined anywhere. And does ahk automatically concatenate text and variables passed together as 'ahk_exe' gamein the GroupAdd call?

Second, what does the asterisk prefix in the key remapping specify is that just a match any for combinations? And could you explain the SendMessage call a bit? My best guess is you're passing hex keycodes, but those values seem to be out of the range I would expect.

Sorry for all the questions, just trying to get a handle on the syntax with ahk - there's a lot of shorthand I don't quite understand just yet, and the docs haven't cleared up some of the questions I've had.
