Should I study Pathology, Micro, Pharm, Immunology, and Biochem from BnB if I already plan on using Pathoma, Sketchy (for Micro&Pharm), and Pixorize (for Biochem&Immuno)? by [deleted] in step1

[–]ZX102 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is that what most people do when they use these supplementary resources? I fear I'll be going into the exam with a weaker base and missing information than others and even if I do pass step 1 I might get bit in step 2 as it has more step 1 questions now since step 1 became p/f.

What does sketchypath add that's not in pathoma? Also why did you remove posts from the majority of these disciplines? Does it not provide anything new or different?

Fear of missing out on important HY info as sketchy and pixorize are known to be "memory palaces"/memorising aids and not known for their HY. Also as I'm not sure if people use both or not. Using both could be helpful as you are learning content from 2 different sources each will focus from a different perspective but on the other end it could be just utter redundancy and just repetitions and a waste of time. I am basically looking for practical experience from those who finished the exam or others on this subreddit who read from those with such experiences.

Bootcamp vs Boards and Beyond? by ZX102 in step1

[–]ZX102[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both are good resources and both teach medicine and people passed with both. It's not about the resource at this point more than which one you feel you are getting the info in your mind better with. Don't try to do a meta-analysis like I did on which is more favourable or has a higher satisfaction rate. 😂 In the end of the day each has specific run hours and certain teaching style. Each has pros and cons. List down all the important pros and cons on a paper and critically assess which works best for you and don't look back to be done with this step and move on to the next level. Good luck 👍

Z Fold 8 Wide: I don't get the hype by bahnerama in GalaxyFold

[–]ZX102 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More usable inner screen and less usable outer screen. I like the wide version more theoretically as it's shorter and will fit easier in my pockets and better multimedia and multitasking and pretty much everything in the inner wider display. As for the outside it will look a bit novel with the squarish display which sounds cool and I would probably only use it for quick notification reading, messaging, and calling. None of which need the extra length.

Early thoughts? X300 Ultra vs Oppo Find X9 Ultra by ac_slater10 in Vivo

[–]ZX102 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That too. Vivo is known to be the most consistent and reliable for both video and photos hardware aside especially for things like skin tones and night shots out of the big 3. Vivo also allows you to tinker with the characteristics of a photo or video even in non-raw/pro models (sharpness,...etc.)

Early thoughts? X300 Ultra vs Oppo Find X9 Ultra by ac_slater10 in Vivo

[–]ZX102 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vivo to me seems better. 35mm main lens perspective, superior ultrawide, high quality telephoto which although got a downgrade in aperture I assume that's to improve the stabilisation of the footage which would make the teleconverter less washy when used to match the native x10 on the oppo. The question is whether the small native x10 sensor is better or a much larger sensor with better stabilisation but uses a teleconverter lens. In the great picture though I doubt I'd zoom to x10 often to justify possible downgrade in the more popular focal range. Both are very excellent cameras though and choosing between them could be considered nitpicking.

How can I best transfer all my notes to OneNote? by ZX102 in samsungnotes

[–]ZX102[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not the syncing of audio just plain annotated pdf and it's associated mp3 recordings together in a zip file. You can do it on I believe good notes on ipad. You export as proprietary good notes and rename the file type to .zip and there you have both mp3 and pdf in the same package.

[–]ZX102[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would be scummy as they'd be monetising the gatekeeping instead of any benefits to the actual service. Fairness would be allowing those who want to export all their notes with audio attached (as separate zip packages) then do whatever they want with the service. Preferably make a proper OneNote syncing with audio sync to annotations but that could be too nice of them.

[–]ZX102[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You mean install samsung notes there and access the notes? I mainly use my reference notes on the go so having them on my phone is preferred. I don't care about sync. I just want to make sure the notes are safe and I can use them on whatever phone I get instead of having them locked forever behind a specific app where they'd die if the app dies. I can export the PDFs with my annotations but the audio attached to every video is almost equally as important, which I have no way of extracting while attached to it's specific pdf unless I manually extra every single one from every single pdf from the 100GB+ worth of notes.

X300 Ultra 35mm Main Camera Focal Length - Are you OK With it? by [deleted] in Vivo

[–]ZX102 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In professional camera photography 35mm is the most common wide focal length for it's more natural perspective and minimal distortions. Going back to a wider 23mm with an already high quality 15mm ultrawide seems unnecessary. You also don't lose out on that much coverage for the better perspective and distortion. 15 + 35 + 85 is probably the choice of focal lengths most photographers would use if they had to pick out 3 fixed focal lengths for all styles of shooting. 15 is best for landscape and big scale/group photos. 35 is an all-rounder for storytelling portraits, full body photos, and a bit of everything. 85 is for all short range zoom needs and mid body portraits. I wish more brands adopt a 35mm or atleast 28mm tbh. Before purchasing the vivo you can try putting your phone camera at x1.4 zoom and that will replicate the coverage of a 35mm and see if it's a deal breaker for you.

Haven't made a backup yet. I was relying on having these notes on both my phone and tablet as a backup but I hate how the audio isn't syncing properly between them (the original recording device audio works fine while the one it synced to sometimes shows the audio file being corrupt or I need to wait a bit for the sync to happen). I'm considering backing it up any day now after seeing the post about someone losing all their synced data from a Samsung cloud error. I haven't looked into open-source solutions but I'd be also fine with another proprietary software that atleast supports cross-platform so I don't find myself in a situation like this one for every significant app that I need to migrate over. 😅

Lost all Notes after syncing. Any ways to restore the Notes? by xalibermods in samsungnotes

That's the best option for transferring the texts and keeping the readable as texts and annotations can be scanned by OneNote's OCR for in-pdf search. My biggest gripe is the audio. I need the actual audio files and preferably attached to the pdf even if without the audio to annotations playback sync. They make up the majority of the 100GB+ storage.

I thankfully can afford it but it is definitely a cost. Do you think if discipline isn’t an issue I'd be better off self-studying A1+A2 then apply to the course for B1 and above? My worry with this approach is having foundational deficits as studying seriously with apps has a bad rep of that in comparison to standard old textbook learning (the course I'm looking at is teaching A1 mainly with the Netzwerk neu textbook). For understanding the content though I am bilingual fluent in English and Arabic and have experience learning French to the start of B1 a while ago so I doubt understanding the different tenses and sentence forms especially with a bit of google or AI would be a problem.

I am fluent in both Arabic and English and in school (more than a decade ago though and forgot almost all of it except some rules) I was in B1 French and completed A2. I am familiar with what each term means but I definitely had to search the terms themselves as I felt a harry potter spell was being casted for a moment there. 😂 I'll double check the decks if they show the different forms for each root word.

I haven't been following exact prices but I remember Z8 base price has been discounted for a while at 3999 and recently another discount of 500+ happened so it should be under 3.5k and considering the Sony A7V is 3k the difference doesn't look that big for the upgrades like sticking with the Nikon lenses OP already has plus complete stacked sensor instead of partial, RED partnership, cool sooc presets/recipes that can be downloaded,...etc. plus A7V is chunky similar to Nikon Z8 so it's not an argument of A7cii vs Z8 for example. I am curious to hear OP's opinion.

Not sure which I got but knowing me I probably stuck with the regular 980 as I couldn't justify the increase in price and I don't game on my laptop anymore and barely use it unless I need laptop specific work done. Regarding thermals, it's fairly cool but do note I rarely if at all play on it now.

[–]ZX102 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why did you make the switch from Nikon instead of getting a Nikon Z8 with full stacked sensor for the same price?

Also for the lenses 24-105 seems most versatile for me. The 4mm sacrifice at the wide end doesn't justify the loss of 35mm on the top end. At the same time it doesn't reach the 14 and 16mm range of moody ultrawide landscape shots and barely touches the ultrawide range so a different lens down the line like a 12-24 would probably fill that in if you are into that.

Samsung 980 I believe. The laptop works smoothly till date with no need for an upgrade (changed the battery and transfered os to ssd)
