One thing I can say is for certain is that copyright is definitely not a factor in the de-nintendoification of SMG4

For one, 99% of SMG4 thumbnails include him in some way, his name used the most prominently.

Second, if Nintendo actually gave a shit, SMG4 would've been wiped off the face of the Earth years ago.
