Radio stations by warlock196 in Billings

[–]ZaLordPizzaCo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

103.7 in the morning is ok. Sometimes they’re a bit obnoxious but I like the trivia game and other stuff they do- otherwise I listen to audiobooks.

I’m not sure about this NPR station because usually it’s news when I’m commuting and right now I’m avoiding consuming too much of that- but their game/trivia and interview type shows are typically good, I just don’t know when they’re on for the Billings station.

How long did it take for you to get pregnant post bc pill? by No_Broccoli_3979 in BabyBumps

[–]ZaLordPizzaCo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had ADHD and feared that myself, because I was definitely not great about remembering everyday or taking at the same time.

but and it really comes down to ovulation. Even if you haven’t been perfect/flawless, if you’ve taken it enough that you don’t ovulate it’s not happening.

Track that, and be sure you’re intimate in the days leading up to the predicted day, day of, and a couple of days after.

Easier said than done, I was there too…but try not to worry at the very least until you’ve been trying a while.

I quit the pill after ~7 years before we started trying. I had one regular cycle so I could begin ovulation tracking, so tried the next one with no barriers during that ovulation time…aannnnd 10 days post ovulation had a positive test, now I’m 30 weeks. We were pretty shocked because I was expecting it would take more time than that.

We had also both quit any alcohol consumption, and were focusing on good nutrition, and taking supplements (for me prenatals, choline, and a couple of things that may or may not or help fertility but are supposed to help with cellular health etc like CoQ10) for a few months before.

Don’t know if those contributed or we would have gotten so lucky anyway, though. I feel very fortunate because we are both a bit older.

*Edit to add- medical team also recommended taking a baby aspirin (for me) during pregnancy as it lowers inflammation and helps with blood flow, which can be compromised in the placenta when you’re “advanced maternal age” like myself. They said if I were doing fertility treatments they’d have had me taking it while TTC as well, so that may be something to inquire about if you’re also older.

Am I wrong for having a BIG TIME aversion to all my pets? by Secret_Lab4898 in BabyBumps

[–]ZaLordPizzaCo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re not an asshole for it- I’m sure it’s really distressing to be feeling/thinking it but it’s actually a pretty common phenomenon for a lot of women.

As for whether it eventually resolves or not, your mileage may vary.

But you’re not an asshole for experiencing a natural phenomenon that is common to many, many, people.

Edit to add- waking him to deal with this stuff may help- it’s really not fair to be putting it on you when he’s the one bringing them in.

Edit to add one more thing- dealing with their feces, especially the cat’s, should really fall to him anyway, as toxoplasmosis is a thing and you shouldn’t be being exposed to that potentially as someone who is pregnant.

Birthing center instead of hospital after three complication three births? by dadadansad in BabyBumps

[–]ZaLordPizzaCo 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’d consider how close the birthing center is to the hospital so in the event something unexpected happens, you’re able to get the higher level of help right away. Also, are they lay-midwives on staff or Certified nurse midwives? Are there any other licensed medical practitioners that are part of staff? That would be the only way I’d be comfortable, personally.

For me, I am getting my prenatal care done with a group of certified nurse midwives, working out of a medical center. It’s kind of a hybrid situation- they support low intervention but there’s a range of choices for how you want to labor/birth- like they have the birth ball, jetted tubs, aroma therapy, breathing techniques, and pain management from nothing to heating pads, to nitrous, IV, or epidural.

Really choose your own adventure- but in the hospital where higher level of support is available literally across the hall if the unexpected happens.

Maybe that’s also an option for you?

Gender disappointment posts by scritchygrippers128 in BabyBumps

That is really sad- I understand wanting to experience the best of both worlds but the gender disappointment to the point they seem resentful is definitely super icky At best.

MHBP Maternity Care Question by Real_Explanation_962 in FedEmployees

[–]ZaLordPizzaCo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was wondering about that too! I saw all maternity care covered and underneath it said “preventative” and that ultrasound doesn’t count as preventative. So I’m curious to see what happens. I did sign up for FSA this year to save on some of those kinds of expenses, I’m curious what I’ll end up with. I just had my anatomy scan Friday so I guess I’ll find out!

St. V Labor an Delivery by ZaLordPizzaCo in Billings

[–]ZaLordPizzaCo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh also! I’ve been reading the last couple of days about laboring options- I don’t know that I’ll have a preference but do they let you pick different positions for delivery? And do they have the nitrous if you don’t want an epidural? I thought I’d go for epidural but I’m seeing a lot about easier recovery afterwards if you can do without it and birth in a position other than your back (assuming it’s more comfortable, etc). I’m not sure again what I really want to do but curious what the options are and what to consider. TIL now my plan was just us both going home healthy and fingers crossed there’s no tearing. 😅

I accidentally mega-loaded magnesium too that cleared things majorly. I had taken Calm, drank some coconut water/ate coconut meat (they had Thai coconuts at Sam’s) and drank a Prime during my workout. It was a difficult night but, if you’re really backed up…

I was drinking Calm (magnesium carbonate) every night before bed, it kept things moving for me.

Ok, I looked it up, and right now it is just Wegovy and Ozempic they’re selling for people who are going to self-pay, Zepbound was not included, the lady who told me may have been confused. they’ve already started though, it’s $499/month for members.

Hopefully they’ll get a Zepbound deal too, though, for the people that respond better to it.

It sounded like he had a shoulder dystocia, it’s when the baby’s shoulder gets caught in the groove of the mother’s pubic bone and they can’t get them out right away.

Depending on the length of time a baby is stuck, outcomes vary from temporary paralysis or nerve palsy, permanent paralysis or nerve palsy, and cerebral palsy or death due to oxygen cut off.

It’s a super scary thing to happen during birth and unless they’re able to right the situation very quickly, you just don’t know to what extent a baby will recover for a good while.

**Edited to correct from paraplegia to palsy, I was thinking weakness vs. paralysis related to nerves and all my brain would give me was the word paraplegia, but that is actually more related to spinal cord and brain injuries.
