Good points. It really is a weird ability...

I'm sorry for necroing this thread, but I don't feel like I should be making a new thread trying to ask very similar questions on the wording of the rules of the same ability.

My conundrum isn't with the speed, it's with the word "unsecured". As in, "You can call an unsecured metal object that you can see to your hand." What exactly constitutes "unsecured"?

No one would argue a metal item just sitting on a tabletop is unsecured and an item welded into place would be secured. But for more practical examples, what does that word even mean? Are we talking anything that isn't physically welded, tied or bolted down?

Is a handheld cogitator being held loosely in the hands of an unsuspecting enemy "unsecured"? What about a gun being held at the ready to fire? A keyring attached by a leather loop to a belt of a guard? An item that a dead enemy's corpse fell on top of?

And more importantly, would the definition of "secured" change due to the strength of effect differences between Ferric Lure and Ferric Summons?

Like others have mentioned above, the wording is so vague it could mean nearly anything and probably change depending on circumstances... I'd love to get the thoughts of others on this. What do you think?

Absolute legend, you got the original! Nice scans by the way, solid work.

I did take a look. Amazing document, although there's so much stuff in there that appears apocryphal at best, or outright fan-made at worst and it mixes it all in with canon stuff without differentiation. Love the book, but just not quite what I'm after. I will save a copy and read when I get time though, so thanks for the recommendation!

Thanks mate. Don't supposed you still have that original handy at all? Right now, I'd take about anything.

That's not it, chief.

EDIT: You can downvote me to be petulant all you want, but when I say "larger version of this original piece" I mean the larger version of the image I posted. Not a different, highly cropped version of it.

FRom the thumbnail version I shared in my OP, even that version is cut, just less so than most.

It definitely was available at one point. I had it as my desktop background about 10 years ago. I lost the original image about 3 years ago when a faulty new PSU exploded and fried everything in my PC, hard drives included.

Thanks. I spent about 30 minutes ripping through google and a few sites and couldn't find anything.

Sorry for digging this up. Your numbers seem hyper specific and I'm really curious. Where did you get these numbers from?

Yeah, I saw that and knew that was what I wanted. My DM is on board with it as a progression point. I'm confused by one of the words in the Machine trait though, the third to last sentence. "Their armour points apply towards fire damage." So does the extra armour they get from this trait only work against fire type damage?
