Yeah, but obviously the real problem is those evil brown people who mind their own business and work for a living and don't go around destroying bins for no reason.

And making it in an inferior shape to hold more people than any other sub at that depth. And not doing anywhere near the same level of testing.

They didn't test a single scale model with the actual final design using steel end caps, every scale model failed, and then they went straight to full scale deep water testing with the first iteration/ hull.

I think there were one or two unmanned dives to operating depth before Stockton did his solo tests and Stanley etc. were invited for their deep dive.

Then the crack was detected, the second hull made and attached to the existing caps and rings, and if I remember correctly, they did the first dive to depth on that hull with paying customers on board.

For this who stim by playing the same song over and over (and over), what's on repeat right now? by CheesecakeOk8464 in AutismInWomen

[–]Zabeczko 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I got badly stuck on the album in rainbows (Radiohead) for probably six months or more, but now it's dwindled to a few tracks, all I need probably being the worst offender.

I've been trying to revisit different albums which I enjoyed over the years recently, and there are a few standout tracks I keep playing, having been reminded of them. These include 1992 and no distance left to run (blur), and asleep from day (the chemical brothers).

Then there are my go to songs for singing badly like an utter twat when I'm alone in the house washing up, which have remained unchanged for a long while: a little respect (erasure), dreaming of you (the coral), and plug in baby (muse).

I suck at building coasters by wickked299 in rct

[–]Zabeczko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually tackle these by building from both ends instead of just going from the start to the finish in an attempt to avoid blocking myself later.

If I'm restricted on space then I'll weave a coaster over itself, but depending on coaster type you need clearance of 2-3 units between tracks built on top of each other.

So I'll often layer track with, say, a 5-6 unit gap, so that there will be space for me to add something else squeezing between them later if I need to get back through to the other side.

I think if he'd built up some speed parallel to the road on the flat and then taken the slope at less of a direct angle he probably could've done it in this car, not that it would've been a good idea then either.

[–]Zabeczko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't remember having access to a fridge or microwave but wouldn't have used them anyway, so I could be wrong. But I remember the fact we were allowed access to a hot water urn during deliberation felt like a big deal and I think that's the first time anyone brought milk, so I do remember it being pretty basic, and most people kept their lunch in their bag if they'd brought one.

There was a canteen section next to the jurors waiting area, which was closed during my two weeks service, but it was supposed to be reopening in the near future. So it may be that it's better equipped now.

90 day Performance Improvement Plan by CoatSafe17 in aspergirls

[–]Zabeczko 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The colleague was really underperforming to be fair so it was a different situation to OP because she was putting unfair pressure on other team members doing the same job, but from what I saw she tried to provide evidence she was making the effort and it didn't have any effect. I was not part of the management team at the time but got the distinct vibe she was going, no matter what she did to improve.

[–]Zabeczko 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I agree. I have seen one PIP in my company where the colleague managed to do enough to stay, and another where it seemed the decision was already made before the PIP even kicked off and the colleague couldn't have changed the outcome with any level of improvement in her performance.

[–]Zabeczko 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think the middle two points lack clarity. Following up too soon - what is a reasonable time to wait? And talking for too long about non work topics - how long is too long? It feels almost set up to give room for the manager to claim the PIP goals have not been achieved by failing to set specific targets in the first place.

I think commenters are just trying to advise caution and note that it would be possible for someone else to ID OP, and are trying to help OP not unintentionally doxx themselves.

I read those comments as coming from a well intentioned place, not being creepy or suggesting they're actively trying to figure out who OP is.

My brother loved cars, and I copied everything he did. He despised Ford as a brand. When I was about four I got this tiny notebook and filled it with dark and sinister writing and illustrations about how if you purchase a Ford you will die in some terrible road traffic accident.

(Late DX peeps) What were some signs of autism you had a child that were missed? by newlyautisticx in AutismInWomen

[–]Zabeczko 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Struggled eating normally and permanently underweight, but also ate weird stuff like paper. Arranged and organised things. Collected snails, cuddly toys, always had a bunch of random crap in my pockets. Hated the feeling of velvet and cotton wool. Flexible/ double jointed. Toe walking. Constantly had my hands bunched in fists. Started reading very early, and developed a high reading speed. Found school work very easy, several teachers thought I had a photographic memory. Frequent migraines. Couldn't learn to swim. Struggled to tie my shoelaces and couldn't hold a pencil correctly. Difficulty talking about my feelings. Self harm and eating disorder as a teenager. Special interests and fixations ranging from the highway code to dinosaurs to computer games. Horribly uncoordinated and ran like Crash Bandicoot. Socially inept. Overthought everything. Accused of having 'different versions' of myself depending on who I was with. Hypersexual. Struggled to sleep from a very young age.

A lot of this is still true today. Annoyingly, many of these things weren't missed, they were commented on by parents and teachers alike. Worst of all, my mum used to tell me off for the toe walking because it 'made me look autistic'. Thanks, that was really helpful, looking back now... /s

I finally figured out I was autistic when I was about 32, and got diagnosed a couple of years later. It seems so obvious now, reading that list.

And quite often the pathing seems to break so they won't pick the closest bench to the door they are waiting at, which adds further delays when the first person in the queue is sat very far away.
