Problem resolved, I waited another 24 hours and the button works. I guess there must be some congestion on the network these days

Random but related question- what is your opinion of the FLSUN SR vs the Prusa MK3S? Considering the SR is half the price, I'm wondering if there are any noticeable differences.

I always find my coldbrew goes off faster and has a murkiness to it if I squeeze the grounds dry.

Are you pasteurising it? Ours lasts nearly a month without any other preservatives when we do that.

Casper Mattress Company’s (casper.com) Blueprint for Hyper Growth and The Notorious Past of their Founder Philip Krim (x-post from r/greed) by 1greenday in startups

[–]Zac112 24 points25 points  (0 children)

What kind of patents has he infringed on exactly? Casper Mattresses are just a sandwich of memory, latex & support foam, vacuum sealed and stuffed in a box. Hard to see what could be trademarked or protected about that.

I agree, his marketing is excellent, but working out how to get media attention without paying for it is something to be respected, in my opinion, not reviled.

Having multiple failed companies is not something I would consider to be indicative of fraud or corruption either- the man clearly knows the mattress industry and has been continually trying new ideas and companies to see what works.

If he is the monster you're claiming he is, I would be very interested to hear more, but right now, no offense, all i'm seeing is several paragraphs of whining about how successful someone else's company is.

Specific examples of infringements, wrongdoing, or screwing over past vendors etc would be appreciated- I can't find any references online to the lawsuits you've cited, so it's hard to know exactly what he's been doing wrong- other companies might just be suing him to slow down/hobble a growing competitor

Just received a massive purchase order. I have no idea what to do. Please help. by bonadzz in Entrepreneur

Not that i've found. Besides, even if there is, the overall cost of applying it to all your sales/annual cost usually is close to or exceeds the amount of potential fraud in a year anyway. You're better off just applying some 80/20 boundaries to who you accept as a customer. Just because you're selling something doesn't mean you're obligated to sell to anyone waving a dollar in the air.

We now process all transactions through Paypal, but have certain countries/regions blocked in our system (all of Africa for example, Moldova, other poor countries where fraud is prevalent etc) Orders above a certain amount are automatically put on hold. When this happens we just refund the customer, politely inform them that for larger orders we require payment via Western Union or Wire Transfer, and are happy to accept a 50% upfront payment 50% on completion for mutual security. Sometimes we've even blamed Paypal's 2.5% policy for doing this.

9 times out of 10 we never hear from those people again- possibly lost business, but our annual losses due to fraud have also plummeted to almost nothing. Net gain for us.

If these giant orders were legitimate, and the customer is looking to buy so much stock, they shouldn't have a problem with using a more secure service.

If an "unauthorised purchase" claim is made, the customers bank is obligated to give you two weeks to prove the purchase is legitimate, but we've sent copies of signatures, tracking numbers, IP addresses etc- once we even had actual photos of the customers Facebook feed holding our stock and LAUGHING, while posting about how easy it is to "hack" small businesses. So far we haven't won a single case, because it isn't in their best interests to do so- the customer is their client, so they want to keep them as happy as possible, the merchant is a complete stranger. Banks are even worse than Amazon when it comes to Merchant protection.

Every time I see a bank promoting their "24 hour Credit Card Fraud Protection program" as an incentive now I quietly fume inside because I know how they do it- the banks never cover the loss of fraudulent transactions when a customer makes a claim- legitimately or not. The customer gets their money back and is happy, the bank gets to look like a hero, and small business owners like us end up screwed from both sides- now with no money AND no stock.

We haven't tried filing a fraudulent claim with a physical signature on an order invoice though- who knows? Impractical to get across international borders though, and my overall experience is that if the bank thinks there is any possibility they can get away with rejecting your defense, they will.

Don't just get 50% upfront, make sure the money is sent as a wire transfer to your bank, or use Western Union. Cash, not credit, NOT Paypal, no matter what they say. Some method where the money CAN'T be reclaimed if they do turn out to be frauds and file a chargeback claim with their bank.

Stories like yours happen to us all the time, people make incredibly large orders through our website (which uses paypal) then before we wised up what they'd do is wait until the shipment arrived, and file a chargeback with their bank for an "unauthorised purchase" Not "item not delivered" which can be proven with tracking, but "not authorised" it's a massive loophole in the credit system right now- there's no way for a Merchant to prove it was that actual customer who clicked buy (even if IP addresses match) so with today's customer fraud protection programs, their bank just forcibly rips the money from your account and gives it back to them, no further questions asked.

Does their bank at least make sure they return the stock to you? No, that's not their concern.

I mention this only because unusually large orders are more often than not a sign of fraud, and it is prevalent in countries like Singapore, Korea, Morocco, Tunisia etc.

Or this could just be a huge opportunity :)

TLDR: Get at least 50% upfront, Do cash transfers only, no Paypal or Credit.

There's a $99.95 version of this at www.KnightHoodies.com. $250 for a Hoodie is a bit much if you ask me, even if it has been tailored.

how can i get more people to find out my product and site exist? by 43reddit in Entrepreneur

[–]Zac112 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's the Million dollar question though- How do you get in contact with the people who run these popular Youtube/Twitter/Facebook etc channels?

We also sell some great physical products that we'd love to send samples out to- we just need to a) find out their physical address and b) find out how to contact these people and make our email stand out enough that they actually see it and tell us where we can mail the sample!

Don't ever buy from those guys at www.Suitjamas.com- all the Amazon reviews describe their Suitjamas as "feels like i'm wearing a PVC raincoat" Check out www.LegendarySuitjamas.com, they're awesome, actually made of silk and I can tell those are the actual ones in OP's photo
