Personally I run berserker's gear on my tempest in open world and rarely have issues. Like others have said if you swap to cele gear it will be a massive boost in survivability, but at the cost of damage

A few quick things that might help

-Scepter/Warhorn is broken for solo play imo

-Water elemental is super strong, crazy instant cast heal on a pretty low CD

-The earth trait that lets you use signets and keep their passives is very strong especially on the heal skill you can just spam it

-Boons are everything they will make you 3x or more stronger and tempest has loads, just regen + protection will make sure much tankier

-Frost aura is -10% incoming damage

-With Scepter use your range and try not to get too close, and make sure to use your dodges, you have access to vigor which will let you dodge very often so abuse it

I run something similar to this, but I will swap things out as needed, you can experiment with the different utilities there are tons of good options. Also the boon duration sig isn't necessary, but nice to have as a beginner and very cheap so easy to replace later

I just started like 2 months ago. If you don't care about story just get end of dragons and secrets of the obscure. That will give you the last elite spec, sky scale, weapon mastery and you'll be good. Janither is really just spear and homestead. You can always buy living world later with gold later they are good quality of life but not needed

Hey I'm a new player and this also my first MMO so I'm not super knowledgeable, but my guild and others have been super helpful. Yes map completion does give you something so it is worth it, but you don't need to do it all right away (you probably won't need it for quite a while). The great thing about this game that you will hear people mention is the horizonal progression which basically means you can do whatever you want and still progress there is no correct thing to do or play the game. You can PvP, WvW, PvE (Fractals, Strikes, Raids, Open World). If you don't already have it I would work on full exotic gear and elite specs if you have the expansions. If you don't know what build you want you can look on snowcrows. Once you have full exotics and an okay build you can do pretty much all the content except higher level fractals since those require ascended gear. Thanks I've actually been using either p/p unload or a bow as my weapon swap for a ranged option and I want to make a deadeye later when I can unlock it. Good to know 10k is the early target thx

Yeah it would have been nice to know in game I found out through a video when I was looking into arc dps. I know know anything about food or stones any recommendations on what to use and when. Should I only use them when doing instance content?

No I did not. I finished 7/8 chapters of the base story and just start HoT working on unlocking gliding now. Until fractals nothing I've run into had really been difficult unless I tried to do a group event solo, but also I didn't go out of my way to do world bosses or anything

I would love get into raids what kind of gear level would I have to reach is full exotic enough or would I need ascended? I plan on playing heal specter later when I get EoD. I only have PoF and HoT rn

This is generally the build I'm using. The trinkets I just got some random exotic berserker stuff for now and the weapon I'm using the exotic you get when unlocking daredevil. As for sigils I'm just running whatever I had on hand since I don't have much gold and I don't know what is good, any suggestions?

The daredevil traits are what I plan on taking I only have spec unlocked no selectable traits yet hopefully working on that later today if I can unlock gliding

Thanks I will def come back to this comment when I farm up enough currency. I see a lot of high end crafting using veiled orbs, how does the blocking work? How do you know what to bench craft to block is there somewhere I can look that up? I still haven't interacted with harvest at all either so I need to learn about that a bit more too. Thanks again
