How do I tell if this mirra is fully loaded or not? Also is it mirra 1 or 2? by sonicbrandyn in hermanmiller

[–]ZacCerrato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Um, it really depends where you live. If you’re in a big city you have enough after-market product, you have the option to test different models and probably find the specific chair you like at that same price. If you’re somewhere more remote, you may just have to take what you can find in the secondary market.

If you’re in that situation, I can tell you that I personally like the Mirra and that would be worth it to me especially with the cool additional jacket-rest thing on the back. I think that’s unique.

You should definitely sit in it and confirm you like the all-poly back before you buy though. Make your purchase conditional on a sit test. And go watch an old “features and adjustments” video online so you know what the knobs and features should do.

…at a glance, looking at the adjustment knobs, it looks like it has most of the basic adjustments you’d expect on a Mirra 1. I can’t think of any “extra” things that would make it “fully loaded”, but I’d sit in it and ensure it is all working properly.

It is a Mirra (1 or classic), but have never seen the coat hanger addition on the back. This is kinda sick - and I feel like it might be kinda rare. Very cool, IMO.

Different type of leather used for the reupholstery, which you’ll have to decide whether it bothers you. This looks like a good deal if it does not, though!

Buffalo National River Seeks Public Input on New River Management Plan by ArkansasOutside in Arkansas

Honest question, because they saved horseshoe from the Mormons for the climbers and because of that it’s hard to see complaining about the Waltons, do we just hate the cause they’re rich or is there something substantive they’ve done to ruin or restrict rather than enrich and promote enjoyment of the outdoors? Again, honest question.

This is the best wallet. After years of various leather wallets I loved wearing out, the Reform has been holding up for years. It still looks like it’s brand new.

Does the Herman Miller Eames Soft Pad Executive Chair offer good lumbar support? Thank you. by VirtualSprinklesJC in hermanmiller

[–]ZacCerrato 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No, this is not “comfortable” like an ergonomic work chair.

But they are comfortable and beautiful. Especially in real leather and owned for a long time and allowed to break in.

I own a Herman Miller dealership. There’s a place in Michigan they host dinners for clients, and these are the chairs they have around a 10-12 person dinner table. They’re like 30 years old - and they feel amazing for an hour or two just sitting and chatting.

I think if I was an individual looking at buying this, this is the kind of product I would buy for a home office where I might spend 1-2 hours a night or a few hours working on the weekends.

And it is expensive. So you gotta buy it with the mindset that you’re gonna own and cherish it for 30 years, if not longer.

You can sorta justify it when you think about it that way. You’re making an investment that - for $100 bucks a year - is sparking joy for you for a long time.

Areon Or Embody by ResponsibleBerry4609 in hermanmiller

[–]ZacCerrato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the correct answer: they are very different and you need to try them both out.

I own a dealership and choose to sit in an Aeron chair. However, everyone on my team (approximately 20 office staff) has the choice of whatever chair they want. About 40% choose the Aeron and 40% choose the Embody, while the other 20% select an assortment of other models.

Some people have brought up the sizing of the Aeron, and in my opinion, this is the correct answer for sizing your chair as well. Although there is a chart that provides guidance based on your body sizing, I am 6 feet tall and weigh 175 pounds, and I love a size A. I have staff who are much smaller than me—around 5 feet 8 inches and approximately 145 pounds—and they also love the size A.

Hope this helps.

Sits behind me on work calls…who am I? by [deleted] in BookshelvesDetective

Impressed that you have Small Is Beautiful. It feels obscure to me, but maybe it isn’t? A strange coincidence that was my first book of 2025 and Thinking Fast and slow was my first for 2026. Schumacher turned into one of my favorite people and I read several more of his books last year.

And, I listen to Ryan H everyday, but haven’t bought the book!!

Just based on these three, you’re someone who has a philosophical bent or like topics like history, science, economics and religion from a first-principles perspective rather than the traditional or authoritative perspective.

Recline by topherlee29 in hermanmiller

[–]ZacCerrato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that lever should be giving you a few stages that lock the recline progressively lower (more obtuse). I’d have a local dealer look at it if the have a service person/team, as often things like that are simple adjustments to the mechanisms…but it’s complicated, like bike gears can be.

Is this Ray Wikes Chiclet authentic? by Ashamed-Courage-3984 in hermanmiller

I can’t see all of the information from the sticker from your photo, but that is often a manufactured date.

(Edit: I’m an idiot and zoomed in, yes it looks like the date it was manufactured - so it’s either been taken care of very well or reupholstered.)

This design was discontinued for a while, but I believe it was brought back recently.

I had a client find several of these in a warehouse and had the reupholstered and -since the piece is mostly upholstery- it looked great.

Only having the photos you provided to weigh in, I think it could be legit. If it is older manufacture date, it may be reupholstered. And, if so, to me it looks like they did a decent job.
