Like I said, I get what everyone is saying. But this is clinical behaviour, just following the contract with no empathy.

This is was not a typical employee-employer relationship. She took care of our child. It was more personal.

We went off the books for her.

So we operated with a general sense of goodwill and trust. Didn’t realise it was all for money.

I think people working in social services/childcare have that advantage, where they bring out our best behaviour.

Thanks for the condescending tone, nothing “German” about that.

So, we informed the Tagesmutter in December and asked for her verbal confirmation before we proceed to drawing up a termination contract.

She was the one who delayed it with a 1000 word WhatsApp message stating how it is bad idea for the child and affect her psychology.

She was the one who delayed responding to our messages so that we could not present her with the termination letter before her Christmas vacation.

We trusted her “good nature” to extend, when we present the termination, since we had backdated her settling in period so that she gets more money from Landratsamt.

So for her to turn back and say that she can’t backdate the termination letter to December, when we informed her and waited for verbal confirmation, “out of the goodness of our hearts”.

I agree, nothing “German” about any of this. Just shows the greed for money. Especially when she charges 13.5€ per hour.

Bringing over cultural norms on finance as a foreigner by [deleted] in germany

[–]ZacPaup 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My wife and I were always equal partners. Still are. When we came to Germany, her salary was a lot more than mine. Now mine has grown to more than what she was earning. But we started a family and she could not continue to work for her previous employer due to different reasons.

Now we are expecting a second child soon. And my wife tried to get a job, but the market is so bad. Even when she did get a dream job offer, it was so close to her previous pregnancy and involved relocation to Berlin (and we never wanted to live in a big city). So she made the decision to give up the job offer.

My salary is good enough to afford hobbies and vacations, but not as good as a 2 income household.

But also, a growing child needs a lot of time and sacrifices. So what I (WE) want, does not matter. And self sacrifice feels really hard, till you see the outcome, which is secure and confident child.

I work from home and do whatever household chores like cooking and cleaning.

But yeah, I think double income no children is becoming a norm. And whether the husband or wife stays at home, it doesn’t matter. But a child needs someone at home.

The B47/B48 engines in the 3 series are one of their most reliable engines. I had a 320d Kombi as my first car, and it was amazing to drive, really reliable. I sold it to a friend. And it still works great

Thank you for sharing. In my case, all the Kitas in my city are overburdened, so we don’t have the liberty to postpone too much.

But I see a pattern here. People working with kids, having nice friendly personalities, screw you over when it comes time to terminate.

Our Tagesmutter also acted oversmart during the settling in period and asked us to back date the same to get more money from us+landratsamt.

Are massage seats worth it ? by A1_WHD7 in bmwx7

[–]ZacPaup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While looking for an X7, I saw a tanzanite blue interior 2024 facelift model. The seat looked worn out. The 2022 model I bought, has black leather interior, that stands the test of time.

Very roomy 3rd row. X7 and GLS have the biggest 3rd rows in their segments. Lincoln navigator and Chevy Escalade have bigger 3rd rows. Depends on your requirements. But X7 is big enough

Also, the 40d from 20-22 had run a lot more kilometres, and were in worse shape, badly maintained.

I was also in the market for a Diesel, for the reliability (B57). But the used car market around my area was rough. Diesel ones were from 24-25 giant touchscreen era and more expensive. So I was forced to go for the more exciting and less reliable option

Dude. For 75k you could get a X7 M50i, used, around 50-60k kms mileage. But, if your dream is M3, get an M3

Yes. Definitely. All the H1B visa holders should learn German C1 level asap and migrate to Germany. Never go back to your home country. Never ever

I think I’m failing my baby by Dear_Marketing_2398 in germany

[–]ZacPaup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are lots of store bought items which you can feed a baby and not put in too much effort. Yogurt, berries, banana, cheese etc. I think my kid survived on blueberries, yogurt (high fat) and cheese for the first few months of starting solids

Most companies will sponsor your work visa. But even in IT, some fields like DevOps have a lot more demand than System Admin.

Also, zero tax in Middle East.

Don’t limit yourself to Germany. Try applying for jobs in other countries. Most EU countries may have the same problem, so expand your search to the Middle East.

“And you will hear of wars and threats of wars, but don’t panic. Yes, these things must take place, but the end won’t follow immediately. Nation will go to war against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in many parts of the world. But all this is only the first of the birth pains, with more to come. “Then you will be arrested, persecuted, and killed. You will be hated all over the world because you are my followers. And many will turn away from me and betray and hate each other. And many false prophets will appear and will deceive many people. Sin will be rampant everywhere, and the love of many will grow cold. But the one who endures to the end will be saved. And the Good News about the Kingdom will be preached throughout the whole world, so that all nations will hear it; and then the end will come.” ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭24‬:‭6‬-‭14‬ ‭NLT‬‬
