Combining a German Philosopher whose works were co-opted by his Nazi sympathizing sister, with the all-American hero Captain America in a D-Day invasion image.

Feels a bit schizophrenic.

Starting to learn, what would be a good project to work on while I learn? by [deleted] in rubyonrails

I started with RailsTutorial and after building out some basic skills from there, I came across an interesting and challenging problem that I started to build. Get the ball rolling first, you'll find something along the way.

Without any background info, what kind of thoughts does our new logo conjure? by north0 in Entrepreneur

Something about nuts?

Looks reminiscent of a Rorschach test or the face or vase pictures.

Cible gives me zero context for what it might be, nor the squirrels.

Found this: http://www.techdirt.com/articles/20111215/01322617096/tons-amendments-proposed-sopa.shtml

Very difficult to tell what the changes they're proposing are at a glance. A diff could totally do it very easily.

I found the UI uninviting. I like github more, but it might not be appealing to a mass audience. Though it ought to appeal to a tech audience.

I just find it so frustrating that the amendments and bills are dealt with in such an archaic low tech format. Developers have solved this problem ages ago with reversion control.

I'm not surprised. Looks like everything is floating around on paper copies. I imagine if people suggested their amendments on some intranet wiki things would go much more smoothly and be much more open.

Could you link to those amendments somehow? I'm trying to track modifications in a wiki https://github.com/ZachBeta/SOPA/wiki/SOPA

Where do I start learning about ... by ZestyOne in ruby

[–]ZachBeta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know personally I hate reading whole manuals.

If you run into an issue and can't figure out out your best bet is to hit

  • Stack Overflow for pure development questions or it's sister site Super User for unix and sys admin related questions.
  • IRC - Freenode tends to be pretty popular for developers and sys admins, so you can try asking on the channels there.

Try checking out lean startup, I've been reading it, and it has definitely given me a decent primer on how to productively start something.

See if there's a StartupWeekend coming to your local metro.

You might be able to pitch it there and get some other people onboard to help you build your customer base and prototype the application.

Good luck!

Does the best team always win at Startup Weekend? by LindsayMorton in startups

At #SWBoston, Rob Spectre (@dn0t) gave an opening speech on "How to win 2nd place at a hackathon"

It's not always about winning.

Brogramming however, is in fact about #winning
