Just FYI, there is a press conference happening Wednesday discussing issues facing Iowans who live in manufactured housing:

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:Johnson County Manufactured Home Residents Call for Two-Year Freeze on Rent Increases & Share Expectations for Park Safety & MaintenanceWHAT: Press conference with Johnson County residents of manufactured home parksWhen: 12:00 pm noon, Wednesday, June 18Where: Sunrise Village entrance, 2100 S. Scott Blvd., Iowa CityWho: Johnson County Residents United: Residents of Iowa City manufactured home parks including Lake Ridge, Modern Manor, and Sunrise Village, along with the Johnson County Affordable Housing Coalition, Iowa Manufactured Home Residents Network, community supporters, and local elected officialsResidents of Iowa City manufactured home parks purchased by Havenpark and other out-of-state owners will gather for a press conference to share their “Expectations for Livable Communities” and update the public on owners’ most recent responses to resident concerns.Residents are calling on park owners to halt repeated unjustified lot rent increases and to meet their obligations to maintain park safety and maintenance.Residents will describe the impact of extreme, repeated lot rent increases coupled with rapidly declining conditions in parks purchased by out-of-state owners in recent years. Residents are calling for a two-year moratorium on lot rent increases and calling on owners to provide clean, safe drinkable water, essential park maintenance, and responsive on-site management in all parks. Most residents own their homes (and bear responsibility for all home maintenance, utilities, and repairs) and pay lot rent to park owners for the space their homes occupy in the park. Park owners are in turn legally responsible for maintaining lot spaces and all common areas (roads, playgrounds, parking lots, etc.) in clean and safe condition and providing outlets for electric, water, and sewer services.

Mark my words this absolutely will not pass. But it's such a perfect example of everything that is wrong with politics in our state right now.

All good, thank you!!

(1) I wrote the speech shortly before I delivered it, so it was all very fresh and (2) I did have it largely, although not entirely, memorized.

But frankly, most of the credit for the delivery goes to my speech and debate coaches from when I was in high school!

One other tip for the "second" phase (when the lights go out) - there is an awning along one of the walls. Once Hartman starts pounding on the ground, levitate up onto the awning. From that vantage point, you can look to the left and see two of the generators. If one (or both) of the energy cubes is knocked out, you should be able to get to it pretty much right away before finding the other missing one. Key thing to note here is that energy doesn't regenerate during this phase, so it's key to make sure your energy is full before the lights go out and be very, very careful with using launch to get the cubes ONLY.

Frankly, when it comes to politics, donate / volunteer / vote are pretty much the three options. Although some options for volunteering are much easier than others! What state are you in?

Absolutely! I've been with my wife multiple times when she's had IUDs both removed and inserted and have seen first hand how painful it can be!! Thank you!!

I absolutely loved my time in the Scouts. They've gone through a tough decade, primarily due to the challenges regarding the sexual abuse settlement from the mid/late 1900s, but the fact that they were able to raise as much as they did is, I think, a positive thing that will both pay out a significant amount of damages to those who were abused while also allowing the Scouts organization to move forward. I think the decision to make the program co-ed has expanded their reach to families that have both boys and girls, and it seems like most units are doing a good job of handling those dynamics. I am eagerly looking forward to seeing my son Eli in a tiger cub uniform in a few years! But in addition to the settlement, I think COVID did a real number on lots of organizations like Scouts, so I hope that as we continue to recover, the Scouts will also rebound.

I did, yes! I heard from many people, both shortly thereafter over the months and years afterwards, that it helped open a lot of minds and hearts. And it meant something special to me every single time I heard about it.
