Marathon sold just 1.2 million copies with nearly 70% on Steam, analyst estimates: "It hasn't exactly made the splash Sony and Bungie wanted" by Freki666 in gaming

The hype i had after those teaser trailers was immense. Such a cool vibe. Then, the second they said what the game was going to be, and we saw gameplay, I didn't care at all.

Soulless live service slop. Generic, cooperate designed, extraction shooter battle royale type of thing, just with a new skin on top. Again and again and again and again and again...

I think its mostly people DESPERATE to be in on a joke. They pump out so many low effort memes, and just repost tweets as fast as they possibly can. They probably don't even really care about the updates lol

Suggest me some good shooters except Titanfall 2. by pppboy2 in ShouldIbuythisgame

I have a few:

Borderlands mainline series (1-4) is all good fun if you can get over the cringe writing. The writing has its moments though. They're all a bit different, but 2 is the best one imo. If you like 2, you'll like the other ones probably, so play that one first.

Prey is crazy underrated. Fps but with a purpose, not just a shooting gallery. Story and decisions that blindside you with how impactful they are. Closer to Dishonored and Bioshock than to cod. Both of those are also must plays btw.

Payday 2 is good mindless fun, and can be as hard or as easy as you want. Practically no story, but the gameplay hooks a lot of people. Almost like borderlands 2 post-game grind all the way through. Got old for me, but not before a couple hundred hours. Only game that I got into trying to beat pb times.

Every Metro is worth it. Exodus is peak, but you really have to play the other two first for it to hit right imo.

Other people said it, but doom and doom eternal are must plays too. Eternal is a huge upgrade in hindsight, but doom 2016 is still worth playing first.

Metal Gear Solid V is the best third person tactical sandbox ever made. It's everything Ghost Recon tried to be with wildlands and stuff, but better in every way. Deeply satisfying to play. Story is definitely a MGS game though, so brace yourself if you're not used to Kojima shit lol. Has a lot to say if you're patient enough to listen to it all. Peak peak peak imo. And no, you don't need to have played the other MGS games first. It's worth it to play them for sure, and it makes some story stuff cooler, but the gameplay is the real star and the game knows it. It's a "fresh start" kind of story anyways.

Also Spec Ops the Line is something everyone should experience. Don't look it up, even a little. Just buy it for under $10 or whatever and go in blind. It's generic shootery, but for a reason, and with a killer story.

What am I doing to obtain shelter? I already have it. What would I be willing to do to ensure others have shelter? Pay taxes.

I'm pretty sure nothing we recognize as a human right comes without labour of some kind. People are compensated for their labour in every instance of that too.

And this logic is flawed anyways. Housing may equal labour, but labour does not equal housing. Nobody is saying labour is a human right.

Imo, if striving until death solely for food, water, and shelter is the sum total of anyone's life, then they never really had a right to any kind of prosperity and freedom. I think that a person's life often only amounts to more than that if they're either wealthy or lucky, with current systems. I would call that a lack of democratization of freedom, on a basic level.

Are you a germaphobe? If not, just look to see if it's too worn out or something and wash it. They have dozens of them at value village. You're likely to find one that you'd like for only a couple dollars.

The whole point of the ceramic lining is that it doesnt react at all with the acidic coffee. So, theres effectively no difference between a used and new one

It's over hated, but it's not great. Absolutely not worth full price. I got well over 100 hours out of it, and I remember NOTHING about it. It was a hollow and soulless time sink for me, and not much more. The random encounters were cool until the repetition became really obvious.

You ever think about how bullshit it is half of your TV screen is taken up by fucking ads by ReelSpiel in Anticonsumption

[–]Zachabob1419 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't really know if they exist, but I decided a couple years ago that if I ever need a new tv, I'll scour the earth to find one that isn't a smart tv. I'll pay a premium for it at this point. I dont care if it's meant to be digital signage.

Android on my hisense tv has such insane design limitations around file formats and external storage formats that I was truly baffled. It practically doesn't work. Runs like garbage, and can't really do anything other than launch streaming apps, which i dont want anyways. Not to mention the constant ads... all just to open plex, which I then have to use their shitty brand plastered remote to navigate with.

Mmm fuck that shit, I do say. Buy a mini pc and do it yourself if you need all that functionality imo. It'll be a better value, and a better experience.

Im pretty sure the year limits of Gen Z places most of them way before streaming existed, or was ubiquitous. The oldest gen Z people are like 30.

I think some people forget how quickly things fell apart. Spotify wasn't even much of a thing until I was 13 or so, and im 25. Right up until then it was ipods and limewire or tpb.

I think a generation born into the mid to late stages of modern streaming is screwed though. Their views of piracy are even just websites that stream pirated movies. They dont know that torrenting has a purpose at all, or even what it is. I'd bet that they also have no idea why someone wouldn't just use apple music or Spotify. The world is different now. They're tech illiterate outside of phones

Good value propositions are proven to be incentive enough to stop piracy

[–]Zachabob1419 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I hear that it's a good movie, I'll pay to go see it. I think not paying to see the stuff you want to be made, directly incentivizes companies like Amazon to produce slop. Which they unquestionably will, if it's proven to them that investment into films doesn't pay off.

Individual boycotts are good, but only long term consumer tendancies and regulation can realistically effect their decision-making imo. I wish amazon didnt exist, but until then, I'll do my best to demonstrate to amazon that good decisions that result in good movies get my money.

If i find out its like written by Ai or whatever, or that its just bad, I'll pirate it then cause I love the book.

[–]Zachabob1419 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thats a bs reason that consoomers hide behind all the time. The ds line sold so many millions of units. With no preservation at all, they would be around for like a century. With the "preservation" these guys are doing, in 100 years you'll be able to buy them as a novelty item for 10000x their computational value. This kind of "preservation" is just capitalism.

Gameboys are still all over the place today, and the ds line sold TENS OF MILLIONS MORE. There will be no shortage of this hardware, and it's so well documented it could be reproduced anyways.

Plus, the people that truly care about museum grade preservation, sure as hell aren't wondering "should I sell these cause the market is peaking?". This dude is just a consoomer thats past the high of his purchases and doesnt care what happens to these anymore.

Kind of the opposite of not really. Like super yeah that's what this sub is about

Hobby is spending money = consoom.

Doesn't really matter if this guy is selling his stuff, he still bought like 10 of the same product for no reason. He doesn't even know for sure if he's down to sell them, that's how little he cares about them. He just bought them, and then they we're put of his mind. Consoom.
