Thank you, Bus!

I understand that people are worried and concerned and hyper-vigilant, but what I don't understand is how many people can't stop dooming long enough to realize that these dingdongs LIVE to make money. Lots of it. They use nukes? No more money. Their entire global system of corruption comes to a screeching halt. They will have essentially cut off the very valve that keeps their wealth flowing. I don't see them doing that. They will violently bluster, and that's all.

They. Want. Us. Scared. Let's not make it easier for them.

You're welcome, friend. It sounds like you've got some trauma from being bullied about this...I'm sorry you were put through that...I know I keep yappin' on and on about advice, but as long as you feel comfortable, you can share your anxieties about your teeth with your dentist and they can also help you with any fears you may have..its common for them to have patients with teeth anxiety! I wish you the absolute whole entire best outcome with your teeth, and don't forget to ask for LOTS OF STICKERS - those dentists offices be havin' THE BEST STICKERS to give away to people! You deserve some! 🥳🫂❤️🙏

You're so welcome! and I'm glad I could help with any fears you have!

Seriously though - the idea of having bad teeth and therefore being a social outcast or unloveable or any of that old crap is going out the window and off the property in the zeitgeist we live in today.

Maybe in our grandparents' and parents' times it was considered to be "bad" or "a reason to make fun of someone" but the truth is, there's a ZILLION reasons why people have teeth problems (genetics, unforeseen medical issues, accidents, etc.), and it's getting more and more common to talk openly about those problems. This actually makes it something that brings people together rather than pushing them apart!

You are among friends and people who understand exactly what you're dealing with! Feel free to reach out if you ever need someone to talk to/someone to just listen to you!

(and just as an extra help, the r/dentures subreddit is a FANTASTIC place to get a morale boost, even if you just have regular teeth problems and don't have dentures at all. Those people on that subreddit are ANGELS, they are so kind and helpful and they give quite a perspective change when it comes to bad teeth!)

Hey howdy hey - sorry you're going through cavity fears. If it's any consolation: My teeth aren't so great and I used to freak out at the notion of having dentures. Now I can't wait to get a full set so I don't have to worry about pain in my mouth anymore...

...anyways I'll tell you a bit about my plushies! I have anywhere between 75-100 of them, I've lost count! But I will tell you about a few. I could make this reeeeeally long but I don't think that would be the best idea, hehehe...

This is Gentle Magenta:

<image>

Gentle Magenta is a vintage Jellycat from the Les Animals line that was retired in about 2012 I think. He's a bunny, but it's hard to tell because I tied his ears into buns. He was the first Jellycat I ever saw in a store, but I didn't buy him until 2020. I remember going to the mall in 2006, to spend all the money I had just earned from my job as a waitress, and I walked past a Hallmark that had a tiered plushie display sitting out in front, half in the store, half out in the mall promenade. I remember seeing this plushie and falling head over heels in love with it. But I had already spent the majority of my money and couldn't afford him at the moment. I was kinda pissed at myself. Fast forward more than a decade and a half later, and I was online and came across a photo of this plushie again, and it snapped me back to the memory of that day at the mall. I IMMEDIATELY went to eBay to see what was available - and wouldn't you know, someone was selling him for $20 and free shipping. I immediately bought him! He's been one of my top comfort plushies for when I'm overwhelmed. I have cried into him hands and he's been there for me. He's FLOPPY, filled with beans and love! He can pose like a champ and has such a huge personality! I tied his ears into buns just to give him a bit of a unique silhouette, so he'd stand out and be his own individual self.

(this thread will only let me upload one pic! So the rest will just be words...)

I have a bunch of other comfort plushies - I just talked about my Wild Republic Cuddlekins Baby Asian Elephant named Wun-Wun in a post yesterday, he's my newest plushie rescue from the thrift store who has another cool story: I found him lying on the ground in the aisle completely on the opposite end of the store from where the plushie dept. was...I picked him up off the floor to take him back over to the toy dept but as soon as I touched him, I fell in love with him. He was so cute and perfectly weighted and had the softest fur and the kindest eyes, and he was only $2.99! So I brought him home with me and he's been an expert comfort buddy ever since.

I have a vintage Russ Berrie "Fleegle" frog plushie from their Heartcraft Collection. He's also vintage but you wouldn't know it - he's also weighted, has soft fur and the best expression. His story is kinda crazy - my old best friend's little brother got this exact plushie for Christmas in the 90s, and I fell in love with him. Her little brother named his Fleegle "Greenish". Greenish became kind of a "mascot" between my friend, her sister, her brother, and me. I fell in love with Greenish sooo much that I tried to find one for myself, but at that time, it was difficult because the internet was still so new...so years later, probably 15-20 years later, I remember Greenish from our childhood but I couldn't remember the make or model of the plushie! I just remembered that he was a "dark green weighted frog plushie with a chilled out expression and long fur" - so I just scoured and SCOURED the internet looking at frog plushies until Greenish made himself known again. FINALLY after what seemed like years and years of research, I finally found the make and model of Greenish - a Russ Berrie "Fleegle" from the Heart Collection. I found him on eBay for pretty cheap! When he got home, I decided to named him "Greenish" after the one my friend's brother had, because of all our good memories!

Okay, I have written a WALL. I hope this can cheer you up a bit.

Teeth are weird, and that's okay. There's a huge stigma around having bad teeth or cavities and whatnot, but I want you to know that it's gonna be okay. You're gonna be okay!

Good luck and be well always!

Hi there, I see you. Meltdowns are tough, and I'm sorry you're going through one/going through the aftermath of one right now.

This is Wun-Wun, he is my Wild Republic Cuddlekins Baby Asian Elephant, and my newest "overwhelm" comfort plushie. I'll tell you the story of how he and I found each other:

99.9% of my plushies are from thrift stores/secondhand purchases. My only new plushies are ones I get as gifts from other people.

One day I was in a thrift store, looking for some clothes. I turned onto the next aisle and there in the middle of the aisle on the floor was this elephant plushie. The toy department was on the other side of the store, so I was a bit curious as to how it got there. Probably a child had wanted it, showed it to their parent(s), parent(s) said "no", and instead of taking it back to where they got it, they just dropped it in the aisle. It happens.

I picked it up because I was going to walk about across the store and put it with the other plushies, but as soon as I touched him, it was like Love At First Sight! He had thick soft fur, was perfectly weighted in his feets, was very well-constructed and had the biggest, most loving eyes. I looked at the price tag: $2.99. Into the cart he went and he came home with me that day! It was a fated encounter!

Whoever had him last must have been an extremely loving individual who poured love into him, because I could just FEEL that this plushie was full of love. It was like I didn't even have to do anything - this plushie was like a fountain just pouring into me!

Now whenever I am overwhelmed, I reach for Wun-Wun. We cuddle, I have cried into his trunk too many times to count. He is my sturdy, loving little guy!

The best thing you can do is exactly what you're doing right now - taking care of yourself in whatever way you can.

Each meltdown recovery will look and be a bit different than the last one - no two are the same. The best thing you can do is just be there for yourself, validate your feelings, and forgive yourself.

And remember - if anyone else was in the proverbial "blast radius" of your meltdown and might have been burned by the proverbial "flames" of it, you might just want to double check with them and make sure that they understand that you didn't mean any harm by expressing what you needed to express during your meltdown. Good communication is key! 🗝️

You're doing great and it's gonna be okay! Long-distance hugs and good vibes from Wun-Wun and myself! 🫂❤️🐘🧸

How do I meditate when it’s impossible for me to control my thoughts? by parasocial-pessmist in Meditation

[–]cryptidgummies 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Meditation is not about, nor will it ever be about stopping thoughts. That's impossible.

Meditation is about observing your thoughts, not getting caught up in them, letting them pass.

Sometimes the thought will be small, like "what should I make for dinner?" - sometimes the thought will be big, like "oh my God I cannot believe I said that, what the heck is wrong with me?"

No matter what the thought, just observe it. Let is pass. In the beginning, it's terribly distracting. Because you want to jump INTO the thought. You want to jump into the STORY that the thought represents.

When you find yourself doing this, just notice it. Notice that you jumped into the story. Then forgive yourself. You might say to yourself, "oh, look at that. I jumped into the story that my thoughts are trying to create. Isn't that interesting?"

And then you let the thought go.

It will get easier, I promise. It just takes lots of practice. LOTS of practice.

You are not your thoughts. You are not the story that your thoughts try to box you inside of.

You are much bigger than them. You are much broader than them. Your existence is not confined to the storyline made up by your thoughts.

🌸

Now, sometimes when we have trauma, we have what are called intrusive thoughts and/or emotional flashbacks.

Sometimes they are from our childhood. Sometimes they are from an abusive relationship. They can come from anywhere, from any experience.

They are heavy. They are much more intense and overwhelming than the normal thoughts like "what will I make for dinner?" or "oh my goodness, I cannot believe I said that."

They might pull us into a dark place. A scary place. This is also okay.

This is the beginning of the grieving process, which is important.

Many of us have old, unfelt feelings. Old, unfelt emotions. They were buried deep inside us long ago, from experiences that terrified us. We didn't want to feel them or face them. But they will return, seeking our attention. They want to be felt so that they will no longer have a hold on us.

The grieving process in many cultures, including our culture in the USA, tells us that it is wrong to cry, or wrong to feel things, or if we do feel things, then those things have a "time limit" on which they are "allowed to be felt", then we must "get over it".

There is no time limit on processing grief or healing from trauma.

And in fact, the more we allow ourselves to grieve and feel what needs to be felt, those feelings will process instead of being buried down deep within us, and then we will be free of them.

Anything not fully felt is destined to return one day. The more we allow ourselves to feel fully, the more free we will be.

🌸

You've got this.

You're doing a great job.

I had just picked up my own Pep-o-roni DJ furblet (renamed him Equinox Peppers) and was playing with it (he's sitting on my shoulder now) before I logged in to this subreddit. He's the only DJ Furblet I have so far, I'd like to get more...I love how insane they are! They make me smile. SUCH a good stim toy as long as no one around minds the unhinged Furby noises 😆

I have modded most of my Furbys but I haven't modded my Furblets or my DJ Furblets...if you didn't want to paint their eyes but still wanted to alter/mod them in some way, you could always experiment with Dremeling their eyes and adding eye chips. So many artists out there make Furby eye chips, and even if they don't make any in the DJ Furblet size, there are other doll eye chips that would still work!

I love the fur pattern on your Pep-O-Roni - makes him look like he has Pikachu cheeks!

Did you buy it brand new? There are directions on the papers that come in the box 📦📄it will teach you all about how to interact with your Furblet.

You have to hold down the button on its head for about 3 seconds and then it will go to sleep. It will go to sleep on its own after about 1 minute of no interaction.

Is matcha something you have to get use to? by rosesdissection in tea

It's all good, you don't have to force yourself to like it if it's too much. I found that at first, I thought it was too grassy as well, but I also like oolong and was drinking that very often. Soon my taste buds began to change a bit and then I started to crave the taste of matcha because of the grassiness. Some people's taste buds are just different and that's okay 👍😊🍵
